The next time you hear someone say that UX has changed or evolved, remember....
"Change" and "evolution" should not automatically be equated with good.
BASTARDIZATION is also a type of change and evolution and that's exactly what we're being subjected to.

The State of UX and AI Maturity
Season 2 - Episode 23
As AI continues to quickly shape how we carry out UX tasks within our organizations, it's important to pause and consider how the integrity of the UX discipline can support these nascent practices. In this 23rd episode of the Human-Centered AI podcast, Darren Hood, MSUXD and Yan Vishnepolsky discuss the need for maturity in UX and AI while considering the possibilities. With over 28 years of experience in the UX field, Darren reminds us of the need for continued UX evangelization, and how integrating new AI tools into product strategy is less of a UI-first process and more of a human factors first consideration.

Beware of those saying "UX is dead"....
If they're holding the proverbial "knife" used to facilitate said death or serving as an accomplice while they're saying it.

It tickles me how folks say something today (because they run in narrow and overly-biased circles usually) as if nobody's said it before. I've been addressing how folks suppressed and ignored information architecture for YEARS!!!!! IA is at the CENTER of the user experience, due to what it produces, but many are completely unfamiliar with IA and its benefits AND many supposed educational resources barely scratch the surface on this topic, if they mention it at all.
Information architecture is a critical part of user-centered design. Optimal user experiences can't be designed without it.

Phenomenal perspective. Please note that the massive decline in recent years is in direct parallel with the siege against UX being executed . What is the siege against UX? A few traits include the following:
- The discipline has been redefined. It's now expected to be visual design heavy.
- UX fundamentals have been abandoned, misrepresented, and/or considered to be irrelevant.
- Clients and stakeholders are executing their own designs and using the today's wave of order takers as marionettes.
- The vast, vast, vast majority of UX operations are run by people with little to no personal UX maturity.
- The discipline is overrun with people more interested in their paycheck than the well-being of the discipline.
Forrester just released a damning report into the state of customer experience within the US market. Their data shows that US consumers are having their worst customer experiences in a decade, with their cross industry CX Index score at its lowest point since 2016.
Only 3% of customers feel like the brands that serve them are customer obsessed. Brands are failing equally across the areas of effectiveness, ease, and emotion.
What does that tell us? That brands are still struggling at getting the basics right. Experience strategy. Product & service value propositions. Personalization. Loyalty. Channel strategy & handoffs. Customer support and operations. Brand perception. All of these areas need work.
