Adaptive gaming 🤝 Public libraries Gaming builds community, and what better place to build an in-person accessible gaming community than a public library? AbleGamers partnered with Deerfield Public Library in Illinois to put on an Adaptive Arcade. Players came out to learn about accessible gaming hardware, make new friends, and see all the great resources that both the Library and AbleGamers has to offer. The joy attendees experienced says it all: It’s more than a game. A huge thank you is due to the team at Deerfield Public Library for all their enthusiasm and kindness shared before, during, and after the event.

PlayStation 5 Discord users no longer need to use their phone to stay connected with their friends on Discord with this new feature. This update is hugely beneficial for the individuals with disabilities. By making it even easier to chat directly from the game console, Discord and PlayStation (Sony) are making it easier for players to keep rich social experiences happening. Add in the flexibility and customizable enablement offered by the PS5 Access Controller, and DualSense Edge Controller, and this new feature is going to bring more accessibility to more players. Will this change how you game?

"I lost one identity and the real me came out." The Quad Gods have built a strong gaming community of gamers with disabilities who compete together and celebrate gaming for all players. They are the “Quad Gods” because many of their members use Quadsticks to game; an accessibility tool that provides a hands-free way to play modern video games on consoles and personal computers, making gaming possible for individuals who are unable to use alternative adaptive hardware. We are so excited to see the Quad Gods' story being shared in a major way thanks to their upcoming documentary on HBO. AbleGamers has had the honor of collaborating with the Quad Gods for events in the past, and we could not be more happy to see this sort of representation in film. Gaming is for everyone, and this documentary will shed light onto just how important the friendships and community that come from gaming are for every player.
