Munyips were a species of creature native to the moon of Endor. They sometimes climbed through the villages of the sentient Ewok species also native to the moon, whose homes were built raised from the ground in trees. While climbing, munyips sang.[1] They possessed flaps of skin between their forelimbs and hindimbs, which they could use to glide.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Munyips were created for the Star Wars Legends animated television series Ewoks, first appearing in the episode "The Cries of the Trees," which aired in 1985, and then appearing in a number of other episodes before the show's conclusion in 1986. The species was confirmed to be canon in the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which was released in 2015.
