Rabbit is a creature type used for cards depicting soft-furred, long-eared, burrowing lagomorphs. They appear most frequently in {G}{W} but have been printed in all colors. A related intelligent race is the Moonfolk of Kamigawa.

History[ | ]

The first creature to bear the type was Zodiac Rabbit in Portal Three Kingdoms. For a long time, it was the only lifelike rabbit. Other cards with the type were Rabbit Beasts: Vizzerdrix, Kezzerdrix [1] and Jackalope Herd. A fifth, and first Legendary, Rabbit (Kwain, Itinerant Meddler) was introduced in Commander Legends. An artificial Rabbit (Rabbit Battery) was printed in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.

Rabbits were sparingly featured in Wilds of Eldraine and gained full typal support in Bloomburrow.[2]

Rabbits are one of the animalfolk of Bloomburrow. As a group, they are community-focused, and most of them are talented chefs and farmers that provide food to most of the creatures in Valley.[3][4] Rabbitfolk chefs are renowned for their cooking, which is largely considered unrivaled by other animalfolk. Highly meticulous and dedicated, rabbitfolk are diligent workers with excellent hospitality skills and are highly sought after to help run inns. Rabbitfolk magic is used to support farming, growing plants, and restoring life to the vegetation around them.

At their best, rabbitfolk are stalwart, hospitable, and peaceful.[4] At their worst, they are stubborn, narrowminded, and cowardly. Rabbitfolk are conflict-averse as a rule, preferring to let trouble blow over them rather than stick their noses in it.[3] Though they are typically pacifistic, rabbitfolk will still staunchly protect their homes and lands. When out adventuring, rabbitfolk typically serve as clerics. The most dedicated rabbitfolk can join the Pawpatch Party, a group of powerful and adeptly trained warriors who patrol Valley to protect from Calamity Beasts. These rabbitfolk are known for their antler helmets and large, metal-coated weapons and shields. Members of the Pawpatch Party are renowned for their skill and perseverance, owing in large part to their excellent provisions.

Rabbitfolk lives revolve around their large families, called Fluffles, and their homesteads.[4] The eldest rabbitfolk in the family are the de facto arbiters of the household. Very seldomly, rabbitfolk will leave their village entirely to make a life for themself in a larger village or city. Those who move away typically find themselves adopted into rabbitfolk communities wherever they're going. Rabbitfolk culture values working with the earth, emphasizing respect for nature and its blessings. Rabbitfolk are highly efficient and organized, often showing up early to appointments in an attempt to outdo one another in politeness. According to "Giddy's Guide to Valley," rabbitfolk culturally treasure their family dinners more so than other animalfolk, to the point that interrupting one is considered a grievous offense.[5] Gifts in rabbitfolk communities can be lavish, in both quality and quantity.

The Flower Garden is a sacred site to the rabbitfolk of Valley, and its path has been curated for centuries to ensure no flower is trampled.[6]If a flower begins to die, the petals and other parts are collected to decorate the homes of any rabbitfolk villages that witnessed the flower's passing. Rabbitfolk houses are often built directly into the ground, with long burrows underneath and tall windmills on top.[4]

One of their kin, Finneas, assisted Mabel in her quest to stop the Calamity Beasts.[7]
