The Century Step is a bronze sculpture created by Wolfgang Mattheuer in 1984.
It is considered one of the most important works of art of the GDR at the time of German division and is a parable of the brokenness of the 20th century.
Der Jahrhundertschritt ist eine Bronzeplastik, die von Wolfgang Mattheuer 1984 geschaffen wurde.
Sie gilt als eines der bedeutendsten Kunstwerke der DDR zu Zeiten der Deutschen Teilung und ist eine Parabel auf die Zerrissenheit des 20. Jahrhunderts.

One of the first things I saw when I walked into the garden centre. A well crafted sunflower by a clever craftsperson.
Probably many owners of these cameras will agree with me ... When I decided to go on a long journey with the Foweon, many eminent editions wrote about the problem in the red range ... Now I know that these were not tetrahromats ...

There are always people who immerse themselves in art ...
such an intimate moment as a woman approaches this wonderful picture timidly, full of awe, in black, with fiery hair and shoes like that light and color mood, the atmosphere of warmth completely absorbing the illuminated room ...
The overall mood matches Otto Piene's smoke pictures. The traces of fire and smoke are important elements in these works exposed to flames.
Es gibt immer wieder Menschen, die in der Kunst aufgehen, so ein intimer Moment, wie sich eine Frau diesem wunderbaren Bild zaghaft, voller Ehrfurcht nähert, in Schwarz, mit feurigen Haaren und ebensolchen Schuhen ... Licht und Farbstimmung, die Atmosphäre des warm beleuchteten Raumes total in sich aufnehmend ...
Die gesamte Stimmung passt zu Otto Pienes Rauchbilder. Die Spuren von Feuer und Rauch sind wichtige Elemente dieser angeflammten Werke.

The photograph being looked at here is actually very important. Unfortunately the name of the photographer is unknown. It was taken in 1912 and shows a women's life drawing class at the Launceston Technical College where Lucien Dechaineux (1869-1957) had been in charge of the art department. Dechaineux taught composition classes to the Tasmanian photographer Jack Cato. Have a look at this brilliant Cato portrait: searchthecollection.nga.gov.au/object/155474
But we know Cato didn't take this photograph because he was already working in London at the time.

However, the real significance of this photo is, (1) that the artists' model here is actually Lucien Dechaineux, and (2) that it shows Hope Evershed, the first female art teacher at the Launceston Technical College, guiding a group of female students in a lesson.

The architecture might be of Great Western heritage, but there's little hiding the elegant art-deco design of those awning lamps on Leamington Spa station.
If only the Shed could boast such fine design aesthetics - but at least it was supporting Britain's export drive by hauling Land Rover cars manufactured on Merseyside, down to the docks for shipment overseas.
The train is the 11.31am Halewood (Jaguar Land Rover) - Southampton Eastern Docks (6O42), seen here making an on-time appearance off the Coventry line, and hauled by DB Cargo unit 66030.

Fresh from the Oven sorry Camera. The sky looked like a an oven of red and orange flame and balanced with the Blue . This is Colombian twilight taken from a ship . Its Colombia not Columbia . So many confusions about the spelling. Happy Sunday everyone.
