The Yukon Territory was an administrative division of the former country of Canada.

Background[]

With the Chinese invasion of Anchorage, Alaska, the United States began moving men and materiel through the Yukon Territory in large quantities to supply their front lines. This caused tension with Canada, who objected to the American troops on their soil.[Non-game 1] This tension culminated in the United States annexation of Canada after an attempted sabotage of the Alaskan Pipeline.[Non-game 2] The Yukon became a United States territory.[1] The US began extracting the resources of the Yukon to support the war effort, destroying vast stretches of forest.[Non-game 3][2]

Notes[]

Appearances[]

The Yukon Territory is mentioned in Fallout 2 and Fallout 76, introduced in the Locked & Loaded update.

Behind the scenes[]

The Yukon Territory is a real territory of the Dominion of Canada that has existed since 1898. In 2002 the territory was renamed to simply Yukon, though its former name is still regularly used.

The United States and Canadian tensions rise, but Canada eventually backs down, and US troops pass through Canada. This sets the stage for the Canadian annexation in 2076."

An attempted sabotage attempt of the Alaskan pipeline is all the military needs as an excuse to begin its annexation of Canada... which in fact, had already begun in 2067."

Vast stretches of timberland are destroyed, and other resources in Canada are stretched to the breaking point. Many Americans refer to Canada as Little America, and Canadian protests are unheard."
