True Iron Sights is a gameplay setting in Fallout: New Vegas. It changes the aiming animation for most ranged weapons (except for thrown weapons) depending on if it is turned on or off.

Effect[]

If True Iron Sights is on, when aimed weapons will use the sights that are part of their model, removing the HUD's crosshair from view and using the sights as the point of aim. When the setting is off, instead the weapon will be raised to the center of the screen, but the crosshair will remain visible and is the point of aim, similar to hip firing a weapon.

Certain weapons are unaffected by True Iron Sights, and their aiming animations will not change if it is on or off. This includes scoped weapons, some heavy weapons of all types, and certain returning energy weapons.
