A tow winch is a world object in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics[]
Installed at the boat launch of Callville Bay, the inactive tow winch is connected to a length of rope on a spool. During the quest Volare, the Courier will stand next to the tow winch in order to deploy the ballasts required to raise the crashed B-29 to the surface of Lake Mead.[1][2]
Notes[]
- The warning on the towing winch is written in French. It translates to "Danger of death: High-tension cables. Distance: 0 m. 00. Depth: 0' 60."
- The rope is held to the ground by two baseball bats, labeled "Jamestown Slugger."
Behind the scenes[]
The plaque on the tow winch is based off a real-world sign, warning of a high-voltage location.[3]

Once a small port and boat launch, Callville Bay is a derelict no-man's land overrun by Cazadores from their nest inside the corrugated warehouse that has fallen in on itself. There's a (currently inactive) harpoon winch on the launch itself. Lake Mead is great sources of drinking water, so sip yourself healthy, and don't forget to visit Captain Dean's Boat Rentals.
