The
Powder Gangers are a faction of escaped
convicts operating in the
Mojave Wasteland in
Fallout: New Vegas. They were originally slated to
appear in the canceled
Van Buren with a different story. The Powder Gangers in the Mojave were formed as a result of a
massive breakout from the
NCR Correctional Facility. Led by
Samuel Cooke, prisoners assigned to railroad labor duty stole the
dynamite there and rebelled agains the
New California Republic. In the aftermath, some ex-cons chose to make their former prison a new base, now led by
Eddie, while Cooke's group took up residence in
Vault 19.
