A quick remark on the term "control": it does not mean what you seem to think it means. In science, a control is a non-test that you use to compare with the actual test. In the setting of the Vault experiment, "control vaults" are not "vaults which control other vaults", instead they are vaults that function nominally, while non-control vaults are the places where some specific expriment is going on (virtual reality, ethnic mixing, stress tests, etc.). However in a typical double-blind experiment, very common in medicine, no participant in the experement would be aware of which vaults are controls, and which are the ones actually experimented upon - whereas in the Fallout lore the Overseers often seem to have such knowledge beforehand.

  • Just curious on a very specific notation made in the article. It states that As for the unfortunate geniuses plugged in, most of them suffered severe brain damage, dementia, and mental retardation from a combination of age and prolonged radiation exposure (not mutation). Doesn't radiation damage generally cause cells to stop repairing themselves properly, and cancer a form of mutation? I was wondering where the distinction came from that it wasn't a mutation, if it was an important point in the game or simply an assertion of someone who wrote the page. Should we really state things about what its for, because that could be considered a leak of national security.--GeneralKits34 22:27, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
