Eating insects[]

What does it do? It didn't restore any health for me (giant cazadore). Does it do something else? --Jolipinator 17:44, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

It does heal HP, but not much. I got 11 HP from a Giant Radscorpion. 217.210.73.110 15:03, June 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, Cartman! :-D[]

Ha ha! Is this one of those wiki-wars I've heard about? We both keep editing the Notes section. My reasoning is that the instant heal happens in both Casual and Hardcore mode, whereas the FOOD meter appears only in Hardcore, so the link to Hardcore mode makes more sense in the second sub-note. Have at you! Parry, riposte! --FourWayDiablo 14:06, June 27, 2011 (UTC)

The reason it's useful to mention is because an instant heal is exceeding rare in Hardcore mode, in fact only happening elsewhere with the Cannibal perk. Just like how this (almost) unique quality is mentioned on the Cannibal perk page, it should be mentioned here. It doesn't make sense to note this for casual players because all healing occurs instantaneously, I'm sure you can understand this. And because the note below was a direct continuation (Hardcore information) it was given the format of an indented bullet point. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 14:11, June 27, 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough. You win this round, Cartman! But I'll be back! --FourWayDiablo 14:21, June 27, 2011 (UTC)
  • FYI, Cartman, Black coffee also heals instantly.DarthOrc 04:45, September 22, 2011 (UTC)DarthOrc

Karma[]

this doesn't cause Karma loss if an npc sees you does it? 76.198.70.129 03:02, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

No, it has no effect on Karma. It uses the same animation as the Cannibal perk, but that's all. You must be Hidden (not in Caution or Danger) to use it near other enemies, but it is not considered a "crime against nature" (I guess the insects would disagree about that). --FourWayDiablo 13:24, July 5, 2011 (UTC)

Just insects?[]

The perks says "50% less limb damage from Animals, Mutated Animals, and Mutated Insects" but you can only eat insects from the looks of it, do you actually take less damage from animals as it says but are simply unable to eat them? 94.8.24.204 08:38, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

Just the insects. Not the animals nor mutated animals, can be eaten. ------Cassie Ultimate Anime Loving Weeaboo. 09:49, September 22, 2015 (UTC)

50% less limb damage at all times?[]

In the artical notes it says 50% less limb damage at all times? Is this confirmed? --Maldini88 (talk) 02:05, September 27, 2015 (UTC)

Note in question: "In fact, this perk reduces limb damage by 50% at all times, because of Comparison being set to "<=" instead of "==" in GECK, but even with that it would work only against Mutated Insects."
I removed it in a cleanup of the page. The full GECK condition is: Attacker (GetIsCreatureType 2) <= 1. If the attacker is the coded creature type of "Mutated Insect", it returns a 1, which makes the statement true.
As I understand it, this means that only Mutated Insects are affected by the limb damage adjustment. If anyone can confirm, please add this as a bug to the page à la In Shining Armor's page.

What qualifies as mutated animals?[]

Are mutated animals the ones mentioned in animal control (perk)? Because yao guais, nightstalkers and deathclaws are not in there, infact the only notable mutated animals are geckos, the rest are literally cattle and vermin. If it works against the former enemies the perk is good (and the two pages should be updated), otherwise it's a glorified cazadores counter. Especially considering that poison immunity is granted in owb. I guess it could be a roleplay perk but meh.--Damx (talk) --Nevermind, i guess not even geckos qualifies cause only bugs are affected apparently.--Damx (talk)

The mutated animals are the same ones mentioned in the Animal Control perk. The effect of 50% less limb damage also affects these creatures, but they cannot be eaten like insects. Deathclaws and nightstalkers are not affected by Tribal Wisdom, and neither are Fire Geckos, because they all count as abominations instead of animals.
