Cabot date[]

I think it is important to note that the transistor is mentioned as early as the year 2023. By looking at the terminal entries of the Cabot House dated 09/05/2023, it can be read that "I've been experimenting with some of the new transistors, and it looks possible to make a portable version of the Abremalin field generator. This would be very useful if we ever had to move Lorenzo to a different facility for any reason. A lot more work is necessary of course, and testing it on Lorenzo is out of the question - I won't risk shutting down the main field. But replicating the current field frequency pattern should at least give us something that we could try in an emergency, even if I can't be 100% certain it will work."

Though the transistor is mentioned as early as this date, there is still no solid evidence of a date of invention, however it seems to be passively mentioned. --70.126.85.129 18:33, May 6,‎ 2020 (UTC)

That's true, I'll add it to the page. Devastating DaveZIP ZAP RAP 21:22, May 6, 2020 (UTC)

What triggers the Slavers Escort line about transistors to play in-game?[]

I was able to complete the random encounter by passing the Science check as originally mentioned in the article. However, the text box that showed up was only the one about cutting a wire, not tweaking a transistor. I also looked at the quest text in the GECK under 0002D68D MS13RemoveCollar as well as the voicelines files with the Bethesda Archive Extractor. There are other texts about a screwdriver (one of the failures) and multiple instances of the wire one. The transistor line only appears once and seems to be in reference to a success for the voiceline "I'm alive! You did it!" which I have not been able to hear in-game.

While multiple variations and inflections of the slaves saying "Hey it worked!" exist in the files, I only noticed all the slaves using the exact same voiceline no matter the model used. This video at the three minute mark shows the same result with a successful Science check giving the text about cutting a wire, while repeating the action on a different slave showed the same wire line grayed out because it was already chosen instead of mentioning a transistor. All the slaves also use the same success voiceline.

In contrast, the random encounter for A Broken Robot always seems to mention the transistors every time you select the option to remove critical circuits. Screenshots for the encounter are shown in Fallout 3 message box transcriptions, but not for Slavers Escort.

Can the transistor line be reliably triggered for the Slavers Escort random encounter? If so, what are the exact conditions needed to clarify in the article? Or does the text box not show up at all in-game and only exists in the files? UpgradeTech (talk) 03:28, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
