possible addition to notes: practical use[]

  • Using it during an radiation storm or giving each survivor in a settlement a surplus in their inventory will keep you safe through most if not the entire ordeal, and eleminate complaints from survivors who use the item or are forced to consume it via console commands.
  • This eleminates the use of a radiation suit in heavily irradiated areas completely.
  • While the effects are active, the player doesn't need to worry about eating highly irradiated food in combat, this will allow you to use potent food without worry of radiation poisoning and save stimpacks for companions.
  • This will shield you indefinately through the majority of the glowing sea due to its radiation curing for 3600 seconds, and can stay active even when fast traveling in short bursts.
  • It is more effective than radaway in virtually every way, players should consider this an direct upgrade to radaway and seek to finish the quest as early on in the game as possible when possible. 99.20.240.29 07:20, November 17, 2015 (UTC) editor email: SueSakamotoTakari@gmail.com
  • It says that you can only have 4 at a time (5 if you lie to jack) but i've got 7 in my inventory at the moment, without using console commands. I think there are some more loose ones in the asylum that might have been overlooked by the author
  • I was able to get 7 - by pick pocketing Lefty, then killing Lefty (I had four total now) - then getting the three from the table.
  • I have 9 after choosing to kill lorenzo. one from the raiders in parsons. 1 from one of the raiders after entering the asylum. 4 on one of the raiders in the room trying to free lorenzo. and 3 on the tray where those last raiders are
  • I'll do another run-through of the questline, pickpocketing everyone with the help of console commands (tai, tcai). Then we can finally put this to rest. --PipersHat
  • The final number possible is 13 if you side with Lorenzo, 12 if you side with Jack. I do not believe the Luck stat plays into the spawns. At any rate, here is an Imgur album with detailed documentation: https://imgur.com/a/3VNPl. --PipersHat

Chemist Perk & Other Chem duration modifiers[]

Anybody know if the Mysterious Serum is effected by the Chemist perks (and/or equipment that have unique effects that increase chem durations)? If not, maybe somebody on PC can test this out, quick?

I would like to kno this too Wesley.Jessup 07:31, January 12, 2016 (UTC)

Just tried on ps4 and chemist doesn't seem to effect the duration.

Stacking duration?[]

One of the bullets in the 'Notes' section of the article states that it is possible to consume multiple Mysterious Serums and have the duration stack. This is definitely not the case, at least not in the Xbox One version of the game, I do not own the game for PC or PS4 to test those, though short of it being a bug I can't imagine it would be any different.

I have tested quite extensively on Xbox One, and consuming a second Mysterious Serum while the effect from another is currently active simply refreshes the duration of 1 hour real time (20 hours in-game time), regardless of how much time on the first dose has expired. On that note, the effect ends exactly 20 hours of in-game time after the last consumption, whether that time is used up by fast-traveling, waiting, sleeping or just playing normally.

I have tested this for the PS4, and stacking is definitely not the case, as listed above with the Xbox One. It will simply refresh the duration. I do not own for PC, so likewise can not verify on the PC version. - Sinbbus

Motion for that bullet note to be removed, unless someone wants to test it on other platforms first. -Nysyarc

Buff durations?[]

Does the bonus Strength and Damage Resistance also last for one hour, or is that only the rad removal effect?

Ghoulish[]

While the information in the article regarding combining effects or this item and the perk Ghoulish is accurate, the perk is a terrible place to put points into.

Lazarus Pit reference?[]

Given the color and function of the serum it seems plausible it may be a reference to DC lazarus pit especially considering how dependent the people who use it to stay alive are. I'm personally not convinced it's intended as a reference, but I had to Google Lazarus pits to find out about them so I'm not very knowledgable about them. To me green seems like a rather default colour for 'mysterious serums' and addiction and mental decay inherent to all types of drugs. But maybe I'm missing some hints which are obvious to those familiar with the DC universe. --Litheen (talk) 07:50, January 31, 2017 (UTC)
