Don't Ask, Don't Tell - Confirmed Bachelor[]

It appears the NDC's DADT policy didn't get the kibosh in the Fallout Universe  ;-) De stijl 15:25, November 1, 2010 (UTC)

Well, since nobody has a problem with corporal Betsy being a lesbian, then it seems NCR don't like gay men only. Quite opposite to Ceasar's Legion.

It seems that the repair thing with Confirmed Bachelor was glitched by a patch, while they were trying to fix other glitches. Proof of this is that there's a script on the GECK that checks for the value of bKnightDiscount. Right next to it there's a commentary saying "Checks is player has used confirmed bachelor to get free repairs from Knight" or something like that. It would not be the first glitch introduced by a patch. Hm. --BSMaker 00:54, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

Repairs[]

If Ranger Jackson is killed, even stealthily, Major Knight will refuse to repair equipment or even enter dialogue. 174.131.113.219 10:48, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Not true. Just killed Jackson in Stealth Mode, and Knight is now talking to me. He's neither hostile nor refuses to repair things. Utimate Edition on PS3

Tigh grip on caps[]

My sneak skill is 75. I have tried repeatedly to pickpocket back my caps from Major Knight and it just won't budge! Not even with a stealth boy... And this seems to happen only when trying to pickpocket caps from someone, for example Raul on Black Mountain. Does anyone know the reason behind this?

nope but i took all my caps from knight back(which was like 29679 caps!) at a sneak of 28 or 30 so i think i had goof luck(luck of 8)Noahg11 02:36, February 4, 2011 (UTC)

Cannot repair past 71%?[]

I'm trying to get repairs from Major Knight and it says that he cannot repair past 71% CND. Why? BrenMan 94 03:56, November 19, 2010 (UTC)

I have a similar problem, but more severe. He will only repair stuff to 52%. --81.229.38.149 19:42, March 21, 2011 (UTC)

I'm using an unpatched XBox 360 version. Upon using the Confirmed Bachelor perk, Major Knight's Repair skill is the same as my own. At first, he was Repair level 34, but after I leveled up, it got bumped up to Repair level 35 (which translates to 61% CND). To my knowledge, if you don't use the Confirmed Bachelor dialogue, he gives 100% repair. Can we get verification from other consoles and post-patch? --75.54.87.207 08:01, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

The Save/ Load Method[]

the topic mentions the save/load method...what is it? and how is it done?

thanks

The save/load method is simply where you save the game and attempt to pickpocket someone; if you fail, you load and try again. AR700SAW 19:33, January 16, 2011 (UTC)

Losing NCR Fame?[]

From the notes: It is possible to get the caps back without losing NCR fame. Just steal the caps and run from Knight. After a while he will begin to shoot you. Don't shoot him back, leave your companions to kill him. The other NCR soldiers will not attack you and you will not lose NCR fame. However, you will lose his repair service to 100%.

I've never lost NCR fame while successfully pickpocketing Major Knight, and haven't ever had him attack me unless it was a failed pickpocketing attempt and I've already been a general nuisance. What exactly causes this to occur? --Distracted Ghost 21:21, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, that doesn't really make any sense. I don't think any NPCs turn hostile after you successfully pickpocket them. If Knight becomes hostile, it means you failed and didn't get the caps anyway. I suppose you could just loot them from his body in this event though. Also, failed attempts on Knight definitely do lose you fame with the NCR.--Darth Oblivion 07:48, August 7, 2011 (UTC)
On second thought, I don't think NPCs are hostile after a failed pickpocket attempt either. They just get pissed, remove any stolen items from your inventory, and are not able to be pickpocketed again. Or do they become hostile if you run before they can take back the stolen items?--Darth Oblivion 08:31, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

Bug or What?[]

I used the confirmed bachelor perk on him and got the free repairs but he can't repair past 55%. also, I came back a while later and he wouldn't repair for free.--Canadian Reject 00:38, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

It would seem that the half glitched-half patched nature of this instance is still not properly understood, but in every play-through I've ever done, he has done the same for me, i convince him using Confirmed Bachelor to give me free repairs, but this only works once and his repair skill is lower than suggested. Further attempts to repair simply lead to forking over the caps, but this time at 100%, so this was surprising the first time when i expected to get another free repair for my gear to about 50% but ended up loosing over 10000 caps. Confirmed Bachelor Explanation[]

When you use the Confirmed Bachelor dialogue options on Knight, he does repair your items for free, but his skill drops from its usual 100. His repair skill changes to match your character's. While not practical in most applications, if you already have 100 repair skill, he can fix anything without having to find similar items or having to pay. Very useful in that scenario.

Is his free repair skill set to what your character's repair skill is when you first flirt with him or does it improve as your character's skill improve?

Which items WON'T Knight repair?[]

I've noticed that Major Knight won't repair certain items of mine - e.g. the Roving trader outfit and the Reading glasses... These are both items with low value. Is that why he won't repair them?

Items which don't have a DT can't be repaired by vendors. The Australian Kiwi 18:38, February 25, 2012 (UTC)
