Hancock will give you a separate quest to investigate Pickman's Gallery when asked for jobs (appears in Data/Miscellaneous). He can be persuaded 3 times (easy, medium, hard) to increase the reward caps to 200, 300 and 400 respectively. Upon picking up the item "Message to Jack" the quest directs you to report back to him (no need to proceed further and kill/save Pickman). I picked this quest right after completing the Shroud storyline, before Hancock became available as companion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.244.19.14 (talk • contribs). Unmarked approval?[]

I think Hancock approves of defending settlements from attack; I'm not sure, but I got him to idolize me after I killed a pack of ghouls attacking Egret Marina. Anyone out there who can corroborate? 50.170.122.197 05:50, December 1, 2015 (UTC)

Companion approval goes up slowly just from having them follow you. Are you sure it wasn't that? --65.25.61.217 16:31, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

Union's Hope Cathedral and Father Gabe[]

I want to call BS on this. Has anyone actually had this happen? I brought him there to see this myself at a few various points and tried several reloads but nothing particularly unusual happened for me. --76.181.65.205 12:13, December 13, 2015 (UTC)

I just tried this myself to no avail. Looks like BS to me too. --65.25.61.217 16:30, December 14, 2015 (UTC)

Death[]

Pretty sure the "One...last...trip" line is triggered if you lower Hancock's affinity until he refuses to travel with you, then kill him. Companions are no longer marked as "Essential" if they refuse to travel with you, allowing you to kill them (and triggering their death lines). --65.25.61.217 15:50, January 6, 2016 (UTC)

unofficial images[]

there's really no reason to be adding unofficial images like "pre-ghoul hancock" as it's pure speculation, and is misleading. unless it's concept art or in-game screenshots of the canon character, it probably shouldn't be on the page, no?

Glitch Confirmed[]

Yeah, I have proof Hancock randomly turns invisible. I was just wandering my settlement trying to find him so I can bring him with me, I turn a corner, and BAM! walking clothes. I got a picture, really low quality, though, of his happening if anyone needs to see it.

Just put the pic to some upload place and link it here. And don't forget to add signature to your posts ! --Rautamiekka (talk) 18:44, January 29, 2016 (UTC)

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af13/Silver-Lairon/HNI_0075.jpg This was taken with my DS, so its not perfect, but it is at least visible that Hancock's head doesn't exist.

Just the head didnt load, but the hands are still visible. Dariorthan (talk) 12:32, April 15, 2016 (UTC)

Question about the Glitch[]

Is Hancock still effected by that "overdose" problem where he ends up dying?

As John McDonough[]

I've come to this page to confirm my guess that he's related to Mayor McDonough, based on some things the character said as the approval questline started (specifically, about Mayor talking to him, a junkie, about the ghoul reforms - it seems highly unlikely to me, if they are not sibling or a father/son), and, indeed, he is; but I haven't seen any direct proof in the game itself, as well as no links in this article to where the info comes from (I suppose, it's just logic and game files? If not, then I'm not sure about anything). To that matter, little links are added overall. Perhaps, more of them are needed. --37.190.63.23 00:20, August 17, 2016 (UTC)

Non-Essential Bug[]

(XBOX1) I read that he's glitched as non-essential under certain circumstances but didn't find enough information to know exactly which. So now I'm afraid to take him anywhere or even let him walk home to a settlement bc I want him as my paramour. Would someone please create a definitive list of the conditions under which he can be killed? Is it only for PlayStation or is it across the board for all platforms? Is it only when he's "dismissed" or can he be killed while traveling as a companion? While he's living on a settlement somewhere but not traveling with me? All of these?

Thanks so much! DrMrsTheMonarch (talk) 17:58, February 2, 2017 (UTC)

Also: I read on the page that he can be dismessed back to Goodneighbor. How? I haven't been able to send any of my companions back to their homes, eg Nick Valentine and Piper both have lives in DC and people they are responsible for/to but I can't send them home.

When you get the list of locations to send them to, just cancel out of them list instead of selecting a settlement. This will send them to their last defined location. This will only send them back to DC as long as you have not assigned them to somewhere previously. 160.44.230.211 15:00, March 6, 2017 (UTC)
