This mentions 'in combat' - does that indicate sneak attack criticals do not benefit? (Are you not considered 'in combat' at this point? ````


I think that it involves sneak attacks but what i want to know is what they consider animals? like Deathclaws and Radscorpions? --Wastelander404 13:33, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Ok so i did manage to find some info from Fallout 3 that said that DeathClaws was considered a mutated animal and same for the mirelurks but not the radscorpions. So still a useful perk i guess if you want to safely kill that deathclaw from a distance :) --Wastelander404 13:40, October 28, 2010 (UTC)

Deathclaws are considered "abominations" in New Vegas, so this perk shouldn't affect them... This page gives a pretty good list of what creatures it affects, I'm not sure about lakelurks, but they're listed as mutated animals in the editor so they're probably included as well. :) Scratcherr 06:05, November 6, 2010 (UTC)

I made a character to the sole purpose of exploring the 216 locations of NV, with hardcore in mind. :D For this I rely very heavy in rifles scoped and/or silent, survival and barter, with a SPECIAL of 5-7-8-2-6-8-4 respectively. I choose "four eyes" as a trait, so in the end I have 9 perception because of glasses and hats (and a wooping 6 points bonus in my guns, explosives and energy weapons skill).

Since I was wandering the wastes loosely I need to being able to make my own food, water and use the enviroment in my favor, so I pick some perks to help me with, like Rad Child and Rad Absorption, Travel Light, Lead Belly (very usefull in harcore mode, since a lot of times YOU WILL drink irradiated water, eat irradiated food and walk in irradiated areas), Strong Back, Pack Rat (a must for hardcore explorers, works great on ammo and food), Long Haul and Solar Powered (it's hardcore, you have to sleep, so this perk finally make sense).

This build originally would have 8 of perception + four eyes, but I changed for 7 + four eyes + hat + implant later on the game and put one point in inteligence because of this perk. Is much better pick Entmologist than Hunter, because the critters affected are usually on the bottom of the danger scale, with the exception of Fire Geckos and Lakelurkers.

Since I'm using ranged weapons Lakelurkers are easy to kill and there's Atomic Cocktail - with Pack Rat they don't weigh much more, remember? - so Fire Geckos became a breeze to kill too. But Rad Scorpions and Cazadors, much worse enemies, are not affected by this perk. Just my two cents. Brfritos 01:30, November 13, 2010 (UTC)

Geck'd and confused[]

So I found this perk in the geck and after: reading the perk itself, hunting for an "Animal" Formlist and checking for a "Hunter" Flag on Animal's I cant seem to figure out how this perk is deciding between animals and not animals. Anyone want to help me figure out how this perk is operating?
