Does anyone know what the instrumental tracks that are on GNR? I want those. :D

Crash?[]

On my PC install of Fallout 3, the game will crash whenever I try to save in the Plaza, or whenever I try to enter the building, both of these are after killing the Behemoth. Any help?Paximilian 02:56, October 14, 2009 (UTC)

Can We get the list?[]

Cam we get this list of the special intro he gives for the character depending on his level and karma (for example the one for being the Paradigm of Humanity)? --Clean Up 03:08, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

a list can be found on the radio station.Wrpen-99 02:14, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Special Radio Broadcast[]

Could someone please cross-reference the special broadcast (radio drama) that the player can hear on GNR? Some kind of funny detective story that I heard just once when I was exploring the Super Duper Market. I didn't pay close attention and never heard the broadcast again. I know there is an entry in the Wiki about the radio drama but I can't find it anymore. Please add a link in the GNR main page. Also please provide information on whether the broadcast can be heard several times or whether it is a single encounter. Thanks... Wowa Ilyich 15:49, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Problem solved and entry added -- Herbert Dashwood was the answer. Feel free to make my entry even funnier ;) Wowa Ilyich 00:20, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

Finding the Download link[]

I think there should be a clearer message on how to find the download link for the tracks. I myself haven't yet found it, and I tried translating the page with google. So if anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it.

Regardless, I think the directions are too vague "top left brown box".

Map Glitch At Back Door[]

In response to the map glitch reported in the article, someone added this comment:

  • Glitch In Pip Boy's World Map: If you bring up the World Map just before going out the back door, it has the pointer at GNR, just as you would expect. But when you bring it up again on the other side of the door, the pointer is well off to the left of GNR, due North of Dupont West (on a 360, anyhow).
    • This is due to the fact that the "world location" you're in while inside an interior cell is indicated to be the last door you went through before going into an interior cell. Since you went in the front door of GNR, it will point there until you reappear somewhere in an exterior cell in the Wasteland worldspace (or child worldspaces, like the DC ruins).

If whoever wrote this will take the trouble to actually go out that door and see where the World Map shows you to be, you will see that it is a LONG way West of the GNR Building icon on the World Map. The building itself could not possibly be that deep from the front to the back door.

Here are examples of similar map glitches:

1. Go to the Anacostia Station at Rivet City. Walk the few hundred feed across the platform to the Seward Square exit on the other side. Now compare that distance to the distance between the two on the World Map.

2. The Dupont Station World Map marker overlaps the left side of the Georgetown West marker, you if you go to Georgetown West and walk around, you will NOT find Dupont Station where the World Map shows it to be. (Don't confuse it with the DCTA entrance down by the water.) To see where Dupont Station really is, fast travel to the marker next to Georgetown West and you will end up somewhere else entirely.

GNR[]

GNR should redirect here, and so should other variants of Galaxy News Radio.

Nice work with the link to the music there, saves me having to look for it =D

Getting there[]

Does anybody know how to actually get there?. The direction my pip boy gives me just points through things i cant get past e.g buildings and rubble piles. I have tried going underground but that doesnt seem to work i've tried getting there from each direction but none work i always go off track aswell because i have to move round the objects i mentioned.

Please see my post below... Wowa Ilyich 15:43, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Links to the tracks[]

Can we get a more accurate detail of where the download link is on that russian page? Normally I can tease out where the download link is on a non-english page, but I can't on this one, and 'download button is top-left brown one' means dick, accuracy wise. MisterBibbers 07:45, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Please do not be fooled into this Mister Bibbers I would scan your PC as that link tried to infect my PC with a virus. In the future do not click on links to anything as it will most likely be a breach of security, I have removed the link from the page. I assume the download would also be illegal as it is stealing from the artists. RegentEagle 00:50, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm not so sure about that, while I agree it may be illegal, I didn't have anything attempt to virus me. MisterPuck 01:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I use McAfee site adviser and it took me away from the page because it was trying to breach my security. I would advise anyone to download this it's for Firefox and IE, it stopped me from clicking on a load of bad sites before I can tell you. RegentEagle 01:17, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I assure you lack of computer security is not the issue. MisterPuck 01:20, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

The point is it was a bad apple and now it's hopefully gone never to return. If your security is fine then that's great but I'm just thinking of the other people that are not as wise as you. Thanks. RegentEagle 01:25, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Dont feed the outlie?[]

This is one of ThreeDog's catchphrases, but I'll be damned if I know what he's talking about. Is it "Don't feed the Outlie." or "Don't feed the Outly."? That's not a real word anyway, right? Crapgame 16:09, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

lol. It's "Don't feed the Yao guai." --Macros 16:19, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

That makes sense, my Chinese must be rusty. Sounds a hell of alot like "Outlie." Xie Xie. Crapgame 17:01, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

I've always interpreted it as "Don't be the outline." Nymphonomicon 19:46 Jan 9 2009

About the Errors[]

So, I took out the thing about unleashing feral ghouls on Tenpenny tower being an error if you choose the peaceful solution, because, that's not an error...The peaceful solution will turn out bad if you haven't figured this out, and therefore, it's not an error.

Yeah, it is an error if he says that you unleashed ferals on tenpenny tower and criticizes you for it. When you find the peaceful solution and it goes wrong, he'll blame the ghouls, not you.71.234.106.119 22:56, April 29, 2010 (UTC)

The door is locked, any help? (I'm on 360 so i can't just console myself the key)[]

I just followed all the pallys into the square, got the Fat Man and killed the Behemoth, but after that the Pallys thanked me, and walked through the door. BUt the door was locked and impossible to open w/o a key. What should i do? Truckman 09:17, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Use the intercom near the door.Sipli 09:35, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

I am not sure if you are experiencing the same problem I am but I already did the whole fight with the Behemoth, I have spoken with 3 Dog and was sent to get the radio dish. Upon getting the dish and fast traveling back to GNR the door is locked (text is in red). I buzz the guy and he says "the door is already open stop buzzing me will ya?" but it is still locked and says requires key. Skitz470 22:08, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

I think you have to be 100 in picklocking to get back on the inside of GNR. You can jump at the terrace and picklock the door.

Yeah yur right you do this happened to me too though i was planning to have 100 picking so not much loss. This glitch happens if you leave through the front door and not the back.

Three dog ... most stupid NPC ever?[]

Ok, just check this out :

"wouhou ok guys, heres the news ! - you know what buddies ? vault 101 is hell . Omg all of us really hate this kid, no ? Okay ! you know what guys? im gonna create a reading club Oo Our first book ? the wasteland survival guide, by moira the ghoul and .. yeah, you know, the 101 kid !"

Ok, now, blow megaton, give a few caps to some cult, save a few morons, and this guys will praise you, just before pointing his finger at you for the megaton erasure ... Just put three dog out of his misery as soon as you can, this guys have no brain .Sidd--82.244.97.14 23:33, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

If he annoys you that much, turn off your radio. He's a relatively unimportant part of the game and the mandatory dialogue with him can even be skipped if you take Scientific Pursuits from Doctor Li. If you want a consistent commentary from him, then play consistently. --Solbur 00:17, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Various GNR jams Remixed/Download Link[]

I was just in DC for the inauguration and felt inspired to throw together something different. I know it's not mastered and the beginning sounds pretty shitty, but it 's interesting to listen to if you're a fan of the songs on GNR radio. Everyone is asking for a download of the soundtrack so I'm including that too.

GNR Remixed: http://www.zshare.net/audio/544739344dce25b1/

Soundtrack: http://rapidshare.com/files/164023022/Fallout.3_ost-tube.blogspot.com_.rar

The remix is great! I love listening to it. It's really done very well, though it would be great if you could somehow improve the quality of the first ten seconds or so.

First thing in 'Bugs and Glitches' section is false.[]

Okay, I accidentally skipped "Following in his Footsteps" and "Galaxy News Radio" and went straight to Rivet City for the main quest, and went to the very end of the main quest(without ending the game). This means I did Raven Rock. I went and found the GNR station on my own, Beat the Behemoth, The Brotherhood of Steel was there, both inside the building and out, and I got to Three Dog. I don't remember if There were Dead Super Mutants, and I had Fawkes on my side.

Just putting this out there for those who agree with me, or have doubts, ect.

( o and that's when I completed "Following in his Footsteps" and "Galaxy News Radio." :)

I added a qualifier to show that this bug doesn't always occur. In the future, please sign your posts with ~~~~ or by clicking the signature button at the top of the editing window. Techercizer (say hi) (pwnage) 22:41, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I think that if you download Broken Steel (DLC) he will sometimes say in random missions the Project Purity recording of the Brotherhood of Steel delivering water to Rivet City

Started a New Game: Three Dog skipping quest-related news?[]

I started a New Game with a Windows Live account (my previous game was played and finished off-line) and I've found that Three Dog doesn't deliver quest-related news anymore. For example, he'll mention my title ("and here's the latest news about the Ranger of the Wastes") but instead of talking about how I disarmed the Megaton bomb or helped Brian Wilks, he'll instead skip straight to "and here's Three Dog with a bit of news!" and then deliver a generic news broadcast. I've tried doing stuff like changing my Karma ranking, but GNR still doesn't broadcast any quest-related news.

This isn't a major gameplay issue, but it's kind of annoying, so I wonder if anyone else has encountered it and knows how to fix it.

The only two major differences I can think of are: 1) I'm playing after installing the new patch (the one that stops Megaton NPCs from suiciding, etc.) whereas my previous game was finished before the patch. 2) I'm playing with a Windows Live account instead of offline for the achievements.

I think it's another bug from the 1.4 patch. I played and finished the game unpatched and Three Dog was giving news of my accomplishments up until the release of Liberty Prime. Now I'm playing another char on the patched game and GNR is stuck broadcasting three news in a loop:1 about the Talon mercenaries, 2 "don't wave the white flag" when the Raiders come and 3 The settlement of Grayditch has gone quiet. This last one is especially troubling, since Wilks already lives at Rivet City with his aunt... I'm looking for a solution to this myself, but so far no luck. 79.119.2.60 15:42, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

I have this problem as well. Started after installing 1.4 so I'm guessing this is the problem. Bugs section says something about reaching level 3 with either a positive or negative karma and no quests completed causing it but that's a bunch of hooey (I've tested this extensively) You're right as well, it is REALLY annoying but so far the only solution is to either reinstall an unpatched game or turn the radio off. :( 92.0.97.143 17:12, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

I had my sister play a new game under my xbox live account so she could play the different DLC packs with the main game and I noticed something pretty disturbing when i was watching her play. It seems that Three-Dog will talk about Broken Steel before the main quest is even finished. He does the monologue about how it has been 2 weeks since the brotherhood kicked out the enclave and clean water is around, blah blah. Kind of a disappointing bug, since now she knows some of the stuff that happens in the main plot. Any ideas about fixing this?

Miniature Tin Cans[]

There are two tin cans on the first floor of GNR sitting on a bookshelf that look extremely tiny. Anyone care to compare? They're on the bookshelf if you take a right as soon as you go in. --DemonDog 19:57, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

I'll check this out, while listening to the song Anything Goes. Its really good. Ok? Learner4 12:36, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Anyone know a fix for this?[]

"After the Enclave arrives at the end of Waters of Life, Three Dog will stop mentioning news stories about the player. He will continue to announce the arrival of the Enclave, give public service announcements, and give news updates on the status of The Wasteland (Confirmed PC)"

Because that really sucks :( 82.36.176.125 00:13, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Removed[]

I removed a paragraph from the trivia section speculating GNR was based off a Pittsburgh affiliate of NPR. Common sense dictates any inspiration was probably taken from NPR's headquarters, which is located in real life Washington. ~ Unsigned 14 May 2009

Re-removing this piece from the article. The station doesn't broadcast from The Pitt, it broadcasts from downtown Washington. It follows a similar format to just about every radio station from the inception of radio to the Clear Channel takeover. This is what radio stations used to be, folks, except with commercials. It's not an NPR affiliate. 99.6.39.6 00:10, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Lone Wanderer News[]

The article on the F3 player character says that "if the player tunes into Galaxy News Radio, they can hear stories about the Lone Wanderer's adventures, clothing and actions throughout the Capital Wasteland.", I'm on the PS3 version and I've never heard any reports on the character's "clothing". Could someone give some examples of these instances ? Either they're so small I didn't notice them, or I have truly never heard them in my game(s). --Penumbra 00:49, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

There arn't really many I have personally noticed except for his referance to you being ugly in the Ghoul Mask. Vault 22 Resident 01:14, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Last, Best Hope of Humanity[]

The article mentioned "Sci-fi" references, one of which was to Serenity and one of which was about Abe Lincoln. I dropped the sci-fi comment all together, since only Serenity is sci-fi and it was only listing two examples. The thing is, while the Karmic title "Last, Best Hope of Humanity," may indeed be a reference to Lincoln's famous statement that America was the best hope of humanity, it's hardly unique to what Three Dog says. I don't think this belongs on the GNR page at all, since Three Dog always refers to the player by their karma/level title, so while he does call the player the last, best hope of humanity, the reference is really being made by the title itself. -- Dylnuge(talk · edits) 00:41, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

I disagree somewhat. I choose to interpret the karmic titles as something that Three Dog gives you himself. It makes more sense to me than your pip-boy having these titles built in and somehow Three Dog reading them off of it. I'll go with what everyone else thinks though.NeonKow 05:23, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Trying too hard[]

"G.N.R might also be a reference to the famous rock band Guns N' Roses." I just deleted that. People need to stop drawing retarded connections.--RedTracer7 23:28, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Dear Hearts and Gentle People[]

Question: Is Dear Hearts and Gentle People in the game because I hear a lot of people talking about it. I don't believe so but I just thought I ask. 76.64.206.89 18:14, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

== Slight error in the GNR report of Agatha's Song ==/ Playing as a female character I did Agatha's Song (PS3), good karma route, Three Dog reports on it saying he. -Ryuail 8/17/2009 1:16am cst

strategy moved[]

Be warned: shortly after all the Super Mutants in the plaza are dead, a Super mutant behemoth will break through the buses on the left side of the GNR building. (This can cause you quite a lot of damage and some rads if you're standing too close to the buses, although the maddened Behemoth will probably be the foremost of your concerns.) A dead Brotherhood of Steel soldier lying in or near the fountain will have a Fat Man on him (once again, this body only appears during the Following in His Footsteps quest) - this is the most expedient means to kill the Behemoth. If one Mini nuke isn't enough to drop him, two definitely will, or you and any surviving Brotherhood can finish him off with conventional weapons.

On a side note, if you have found a way to continue the main storyline without finishing the Following in His Footsteps quest, then you will still have to fight through the Super Mutants, just without the help of the Brotherhood of Steel, until you reach the station and find the Brotherhood waiting... and the Super Mutant Behemoth charging. The Behemoth may kill any followers you have so it is advised to leave them behind.

Killing the Super Mutant Behemoth without a Fat Man is not difficult, but it is time consuming. Directly south of the fountain in front of GNR is a covered area with a balcony. If you stand under the balcony, the Super Mutant Behemoth will not be able to harm you. You can stay there and shoot at him with a Hunting Rifle. This will eventually kill it. If you run out of ammo, anything dead in the area will have an assault rifle and some ammo for it on their body.

The fountain in the center of the plaza can prove useful if one wants to take a more dynamic approach at killing the Super Mutant Behemoth. Keep the fountain always between yourself and the behemoth by staying close to the fountain and strafing around it. As soon as he turns his attention to you (if you did not have it from the start), it will try to reach you, but as it cannot run straight towards you, you will be faster, thus being always face-to-face with him. This enables you to get easy close range headshots without taking damage - preferrably with a weapon suited for this job, like the Combat shotgun.--Kingclyde 19:52, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

I've found bottlecap mines to be a good solution too. Ordinary frag mines are not that useful, but the bottlecap mine does five times the damage. The Behemoth is way too dumb to avoid stepping on them over and over again. Just seed his path and let him kill himself. Wunengzi 20:05, August 23, 2010 (UTC)
Using your Followers to distract the Behemoth is also a good strategy. I fought the GN Behemoth at Lvl 13 with Dogmeat, Sergeant RL-3, and a Combat Shotgun from OA. The Behemoth nearly killed Dogmeat as I chipped away at its health, but Dogmeat pulled through in the end. Nymphonomicon 19:51, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

Split[]

I think this article should be split in two:

  • Galaxy News Radio (location) with info about the location in FO3
  • Galaxy News Radio (radio) with licensed songs, news bulletins etc

It's getting a bit overloaded in my opinion. -- Porter21 (talk) 09:50, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

I agree.--Sentinel 101 16:42, September 1, 2009 (UTC)
As no-one seems to disagree, I'm going to go ahead with this. I'm going to move this page to Galaxy News Radio (location), and remove all info that will be related to the Galaxy News Radio (radio) page. --Sentinel 101 17:33, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

unconfirmed bugs moved[]

Please confirm these with more than one occurrence. When verifying these bugs, please also make sure to note which platform they occurred on before inserting them into the article.

  • If you have to face all the super mutants, including the Behemoth alone. However, you can run straight to the door without killing any of them, and the intercom will say that everything looks okay.
  • Unsure if this is rare or not, but in Three dog's room, when attempting to reverse pickpocket the head wrap from him, Dogmeat may appear, near where Three Dog sleeps.
  • If you blow up the citadel the BOS troops outside GNR may be friendly but the guys inside are not.

--Kingclyde 22:43, September 13, 2009 (UTC)

All my stuff is gone![]

So I've been using GNR as a sort of home away from home and putting my stuff on the shelves there. Today I went there and all my stuff was gone! This is true for all saves.

Brotherhood of steel turns hostile??[]

After entering the GNR building and before talking to three dawg if I go up to the balcony on top(that overlooks the plaza) through a side door, the entire bos faction turns hostile? A bug or normal event?

It's a bug. I've encountered it before, but I don't know the trigger for it. --Kris User Hola 13:15, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

No Brotherhood here.[]

I am going through my second run through of this game trying to earn trophies I missed before and when I reached GNR the brotherhood was not there (they were before), I had to fight all the mutants by myself.
