.223[]

Great find, I personally don't think .223 needs to be in the game though, you might already lnow this but in case you don't, .223 and 5.56 are almost the exact same round with a few minor diferences, from what I've read, .223 is the comercial version of 5.56 and a firearm chambered for 5.56 can fire .223 with no problem and vice versa but aparently using 5.56 in a .223 weapon can be dangerous, I'm not sure why it's dangerous but it has something to do with pressure.--Roflguy227 04:04, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

I can tell you why you do not want to use a 5.56x45 (AKA 5.56 NATO) round in a .223 Remington gun/barrel. The 5.56 NATO is designed to operate at higher pressures than the .223 Remington. As a result if you use the 5.56 NATO in a .223 Remington barrel you risk catastrophic failure. At best your firearm is damaged at worst the user is damaged, typically it is at best. Using .223 Remington in a 5.56 NATO firearm/barrel offers no problems. --75.34.30.108 08:12, December 4, 2010 (UTC)Mad

On 12.7mm vs. .50 cal, the 12.7mm is a pistol round, while the .50 is a rifle round. I'm basing that on the projectile meshes.Fiddlesoup

Looked into it, and .223 ammunition is a special ammo type for 5.56 Weapons. Its bonuses are Weapon Decay Rate x 0.8, Weapon Damage x 0.9, and Damage Threshold Reduction x 8.Fiddlesoup 03:04, October 24, 2010 (UTC)

As .223 and the other "low power" special rounds aren't listed in the main list I've removed the note about .38 special (low power .357)

Primer Boxes/ Powder Jars[]

Has anyone else tried crafting ammunition after purchasing these bulk containers of powder or primers? I've tried to do the same with the cases, but it doesn't seem to add to the total in inventory on the repair bench. Is this a bug?

Drop them then pick them up again you'll get 200 powder per jar. Same thing happens with boxes(?) of cases.

Slugs on Damage Threshold?[]

So.. what does the .35 Weapon Spread of shotgun slugs do on the damage threshold? Does it "combine" all the damage into one, solid damage?(example: 7 pellets of 4 damage each will do 28 - DT instead of 4 - DT x 7)--68.100.64.165 03:13, October 30, 2010 (UTC)

5mm Hollow Points[]

Are 5mm hollow points supposed to be in the game? A friend told me he was able to purchase them on the console version. However, in my pc version there are none to be found.

surplus ammo[]

So I was wondering, do companions gain the damage bonus from using surplus ammo? I know they don't gain the additional effects for weapon mods so I figure it's worth asking. Also if someone can confirm/deny the bonus, should it be added to the Notes section of the page or is it too trivial? Mr.goodtrips 00:14, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

Condition[]

I have a gun that has access to two additional types of ammunition. Type A has cond x .85 and Type B has cond x 1.25. Which one will make my weapon degrade faster? (does the multiplier apply to the damage my gun takes while firing or my guns resistance to damage)216.250.10.130 01:42, January 15, 2011 (UTC)

MF Breeder[]

Merchants selling new ammo types after the recent patch[]

I just downloaded the new 1.05 patch recently on PS3 (Don't know how it got through the PSN outage), and after visiting Bloodbourne Cave I went to sell some stuff to Vendortron and noticed that he was selling multiple new ammo types. Most of it was just run-of-the-mill bulk ammo such as .223 and .38 Special, however there were 2 that stood out to me - .44 Special (normally only available once at one of the safehouses) and 5mm Hollow Point (which hasn't been available at all in game without using console commands or the GECK as far as I know). Do companions use custom ammo if provided with it?[]

By which I mean, do the ammo various bonuses/penalties apply properly when that ammo is fired by a companion? I ask because a lot of ammo types have the drawback of increasing weapon degradation, and (AFAIK) companion weapons don't normally degrade. 124.170.3.244 20:13, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

well, theyll only use the "special companion ammo" for their unique companion weapons but if you give them another gun, theyll only use it if the ammo is the only kind they have, for example, give them a revolver with regular .44

and swc hand load theyll use the regular ammo until they run out, then switch to the swc

Best over all ammo?[]
