How do you know the brahmin has two male heads in that picture? It's not like it's got a beard or anything to make it obvious and both male and female cows have horns.

The text is taken from Chris Avellone's Fallout Bible, where it is said that male heads have horns and female heads don't. Ausir 14:33, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

"Something nasty on its back?"[]

Brahmin cows in real life do have big lumps on their backs. I know. Shouldn't we clear this up? 66.63.86.156 13:02, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Umm....Brahmin is caste in India, the word is not realed to cows at all, I don't know who this article but he got it all wrong...Brahman cattle were developed in the United States in the early 1900s..Americans named the breed Brahman because cows were holy in India..and the priestly class of India is called Brahmin/Brahman. The word comes from the sanskrit language and does not have anything to do with cows.

Strange brahmin[]

I've got a save in which Hoff's pack Brahmin is running down the road. I think it's left Doc Hoff behind at Temple of the Union. It's not hostile, it just keeps going. Anyone know what's going on? Jdw 04:23, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

Well it could be that Hoff got killed but his Brahmin didn't. I once saw a trader get killed and I killed the supermutants attacking Crow but crow died so I took his pack brahmin key and took all the stuff from his still live Brahmin. after that it just walked around Kelloth 02:53, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Hinduism[]

I think that Brahmin could be a reference to Brahman, which is the supreme one god of hinduism, named Brahma. It's not too farfetched, seeing as to Hindu people, the cow is a sacred animal. What do you guys think?

Probably not. "Brahman" is a real breed of cattle.220.253.4.79 10:56, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

OK, that breed of cattle might be named after the hindu religion then. Thanks mate.

Then the "Behind the scenes" part is still at least partly wrong.--Mr.Lexx(talk) 18:25, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

I agree. Most likely, the name is more of a reference to the breed: [1] than the Hindu class. --24.7.159.154 01:55, March 15, 2012 (UTC)

brahmin in megaton[]

if you crouch next to the cow and press action while looking at it, something happens. this is not a joke. try it yourself.--ASL93ratjar 22:19, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

OMG I WANNA FUCKING BRAHMIN TIP THE FUCK OUT OF FO3.--Master of cheeZ 04:53, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

Good thing to do on weaker characters with Mad Brahmin. It's funny to shoot them when they're down! --FlameWolf 22:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Canterbury Commons[]

Upon quick traveling to Arefu, I witnessed Wolfgang and his caravan guard getting mauled by a Yao Guai. I was able to save the Brahmin, and I relieved it of its burden. Later, on a visit to Canterbury Commons, I noticed the Brahmin standing outside of the town next to another caravan merchant. After a few days it was still there. Should it be noted that the "orphaned" pack Brahmin of caravan merchants return and reside outside of CC?--Warped Mind 07:00, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

I think they just go to whatever their next destination would be and stay there. In my game, Crow's dead and his Brahmin has taken up permanent residence outside of Rivet City.

Possible addition to the article[]

I found a way to kill the Brahmin (or at least the one in Megaton) without everyone going hostile towards you. I was doing doing that thing where you carry an item in front of you, and I accidentally dropped it on one of the Brahmin's heads. This made it fall over and presumably killed it because I was able to search it for its Brahmin meat. This might be worth adding to the Brahmin article as a note or bug. Yeah, I believe you. Sure, I do!

Running on 2 legs[]

I just witnessed a pack of 5 Talon mercs shooting several packs of Brahmin in the Waste, and 2 still-alive Brahmins ran towards them at high speed, on their hind legs! I thought they were super mutants from the size, but later I ran up to check the carcass, they were both Brahmins.

Mad Brahmin[]

I just looked up mad cow disease on Wikipedia,(the most accurate source of information in world), and none of the symptoms included increased aggression. Maybe the mad brahmin have some type of rabies instead of mad cow disease.JackofBlades13 18:26, February 7, 2011 (UTC)

Different Model in Fallout: New Vegas?[]

It might be worth mentioning, but unlike Fallout 3 you cannot destroy the Brahmins udder.

Pack Brahmin[]

Searching the term Pack Brahmin redirects here, however there is nothing more than a cursory line regarding how they are sometimes used as pack animals.

I did find on the merchants page: "Pack Brahmin have a unique amount of health, considerably more than a regular brahmin". Also, they use a completely different in game model and carry items instead of just brahmin meat. So it is known that they have different stats for at least health, but currently a baseline is not listed. Stats also seems to vary depending on whether it is a scavenger, caravan merchant, or water caravan brahmin. Sorry, I would add these but I don't have the PC version to use the GECK.

Seeing as how the animal differs from game to game to such a large degree I think it's worth putting out there that this page could use some disambiguation. Just Sayin'74.77.132.100 22:41, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Brahmin egg?[]

I was looking through the texture .bsa files in the Fallout Mod Manager, and I saw this: textures\dlc03\clutter\brahminegg\dlc03brahminegg.dds. What do you suppose that is?

Talking Brahmin[]

I've noticed that a particular (not sure if there are more that do this) Brahmin talks to me when I walk by it, like those random comments if you walk by people, however I don't hear any voice.

The Brahmin I'm talking about, is one of the Brahmins at the Crimson Caravan Company, if you enter it using the west entrance.

Go directly to the left, and there should be a Brahmin near the water tower who says stuff like:

"McLafferty is a hard boss, but she knows what she's doing. That's for sure." 212.187.15.232 13:19, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

One head brahmin[]

The page mentions rare brahmins that are born with one head, essentially a cow. Are there any references in game or elsewhere where this is explicitly stated? Yes Man default 06:42, August 27, 2011 (UTC)
