I've only just started playing through OWB, but have noted that Higgs Village is an easy source of books, there at least 216 books found loose throughout the houses.
On another note I thought that the Book Chutes model number of 232.7 may have been of relevance but in the Dewey Decimal system it is Jesus Christ and his family, whilst in the Melvil Decimal system it is Christian Doctrinal Theology. Dakota_

can create skill books???!!![]
the creation of skill books? wow that seems overpowered. there are tonnes of pre-war books in new vegas. there must be a catch to this?
- Its not just Pre War Books you can use but also the Ruined and Burnt books as well. However to create a skill book you need 25 Blank Books, 2 Wonderglue and the relevant Holodisk Recipe. When you create the skill book the Holodisk is consumed just like any other recipe ingredient. As far as I know theres only one of each Holodisk and as such you can only get one extra copy of each skill book.Dakota 14:45, July 21, 2011 (UTC)
It begs the question then: If the DLC is uninstalled, and a save is then made without it, can it then be re-installed and replayed fresh from that save to acquire the holotapes again, or do stats retroactively reset to what they were before the DLC?--Xclockwatcher 06:14, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

- Not only would it be a lot of work but considering the increased level cap - which will be raised again with the release of Lonesome Road, and the number of existing skill books it really isn't at all necessary as maxing skills has become easier with each add-on. Dakota 13:29, July 28, 2011 (UTC)

Pencil -> Lead conversion[]
This is terribly inefficient. Pencils are worth 1 cap and produce 5 lead, while Scrap Metal - also worth 1 cap - can produce 200 lead! Even if your barter is low enough to be selling Pencils for 0.7 and buying Scrap for 2, you're still more than 10 times better off selling Pencils than feeding them to the Chute. -- Hayst 17:19, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

i don't think it was meant to be efficient, rather a way to actually USE pencils, before OWB they had no use but to be sold irradiated dirt cheap. this way if you have a lot of hours and have scoured the mojave for scrap to make into lead and your down to buying 2-3 scrap meatl from vendors just to get lead, you now have a new source of lead that is really common, it's a win-win really Brotherhood-overlord-6 01:39, October 26, 2011 (UTC)

proletariat is a word commonly used all around the world and its hard to find someone who doesn't know its meaning. and suprising to usa banning "words" makes me "ignorant"? makes perfect sense. by the way what the heck is mean "doesn't care about knowing"? and you talking about "ignorance"?

Speculation?[]
I just posted (without signing in) a Behind-the-Scenes regarding 1984, regarding the Book Chute's 'journal' remark, and the parallel that drew from 1984. What I don't understand is why it was removed for being speculative: the Book Chute most definitely says this, and the events do really transpire in the novel. I don't really see the connection being any more or less tenuous than the rest that have been added thus far...

- I removed it for the very reason you said, it was tenuous. I haven't made any kind of comprehensive sweep of behind the scenes sections, but many of them need to be removed.
