Does the perk give Veronica a natural DT bonus of 4,or does it only increases DT of her standard armour with 4?

Bug (PC).[]

No BoS perk for Veronica. Only message about it. Living Anatomy and G.E.C.K. = Proof. ;)

Confirmed (360). Perk adds no additional DT according to Living Anatomy. In fact, her DT seems to get stuck at whatever it was at the time the perk was 'added'. I gave her T-51b armor before exiting the bunker, and after confronting the paladins her DT was STILL 25, even after removing the armor from her inventory!

I also tried the reverse, with her wearing only her default 6 DT robes, and after confronting the paladins her DT was stuck at 6, regardless of whatever other armor she equipped afterwards.

This could potentially be an exploit, if you equip her with the best power armor before the perk is 'added'. Then remove the armor, and she will be wearing her default robes with DT equivalent to power armor, minus the weight.

Update.[]

"DT was STILL 25, even after removing the armor" - not BoS perk problem. Living Anatomy glitch. Try to load a saved game. Take aim in V.A.T.S. and you will see. :)

More important is G.E.C.K. information - only message is "granted" :) :

ShowMessage FollowerMessageVeronicaUpgradeArmor

No "addperk" line!!!

For example (in case of Cass):

showmessage FollowerMessageUpgradeCassHandofVengeance

Player.AddPerk HandOfVengeance 1

Living Anatomy only help us to see...

-Nevermind, it apparently is a display glitch related to living anatomy, but you are correct- the perk adds no additional DT or any benefit whatsoever.

Fix[]

I've made a mod that restores both perks (this and Causeless Rebel) but I don't know if I should add that to the main pages of the respective entries.

Doesn't work. All it seems to do is add a Bonds of Steel perk to the player, but it doesn't actually do anything, let alone add DT to Veronica. Didn't check to see if Causeless Rebel was fixed, but presumably not. http://imageshack.us/m/15/6929/luckmanngrenadesignatur.png Luckmann 13:54, June 2, 2011 (UTC)

you are missing the actual point here[]

you are all talking about the Vero perks not being added to Vero, but you are missing the real point. Perks CANNOT be added to ANYBODY except the player. The game engine is not programmed to do this. You can add any perk thru the console or scripts and you get no error message, but NO perk will be EVER added to ANYBODY except the player. As such, ALL companion-only perks in FNV are utterly useless. This can easily be checked by adding any perk to Vero or any other NPC in the game and then check the effects thru the console - stats will never change for NPCs. Add a perk that boosts critical chance, strength, whatever, to an NPC, check their stats afterwards, no change. Add perks to player, it works. So I hear people are creating mods that fix companion perks. Useless, guys. NOTHING is added, even if you fix the scripting bugs, because the bug is hard-coded. Or maybe it's not even a bug, because FNV relies on F3 engine and perks were never meant to be used for NPCs, they were created for the player only. Could have informed Obsidian about this, would spare us and them all the hassle. WRFan 18:43, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

Perks are added to the player, that's right. I always assumed that it WAS affecting the appropriate companion, though. I.e., player gets the perk, companion gets the benefit. I just tested with this perk (Bonds of Steel) and Veronica, however, and it didn't raise her DT at all. I tried adding the perk to myself AND to her, and neither had any effect on her DT. You CAN, of course, simply select Veronica and type in the console "modav damagethreshold 4" and THAT will work. That's probably how the user-created "fix" works... and anyway, it's quite easy to do yourself. (Of course, it would be nice if it simply worked the way it was supposed to...) 68.53.162.70 23:33, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

Is this also true in other cases? Elijah's Last Words, for example, or Calm Heart/Hand of Vengeance with Cass. No one seems to be reporting such issues on those pages/their talk pages. Fernling 11:48, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

I know for a fact calm heart works just fine with cass. Her HP raised 50 points right after i finished the quest so i would say hand of vengeance would work to. 67.232.81.249 17:43, February 18, 2012 (UTC)

New update.[]

http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1179411-an-update-from-bethesda/

Veronica’s companion perks (as in the ones Veronica gets, not the player) now properly assigned.

The cake is a lie.[]

Nothing is fixed in reality (tested on PC version only). Or I simply don't see it. Correct me if I'm wrong...

-Confirmed(360): Perk is still bugged and nothing is fixed. I tried it with bonds of steel and it initially displayed a DT bonus of 8, according to living anatomy. Once the game is reloaded, however, the bonus is gone and no longer shows.

Still not working.
