So this perk doesn't affect the Riot Shotgun? Ninety9Soulz 11:17, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry about that. I just tested it. Yes it does effect the Riot shotgun. :)

Does this perk simply knock enemies back, or down the way "Super Slam" does?

It knocks them down, and they take a good amount of time to get up. I used it in conjunction with the reload speed increasing perk and Light Touch to wipe out the Deathclaw Promontary with surprising ease. The 7 pellets in buckshot, you get a 53% chance of knocking an enemy down with each shot, compared to the 10% chance from beanbag rounds or slugs.

Can't wait to test it[]

I'm a PC player, so I have to wait until Dead Money comes out for my plataform, but I can't wait to put this to use. Usually I spend some points - actually a lot of them in melee/unarmed - because they have some benefits over guns, like knock down your enemy, bypassing DT and doing damage even when blocked. If this perk actually make the enemy to fall over, shotguns and guns build in general becomes very interesting. Even if the enemy are not knock down, only knock back, this allows some very interesting situations. For exemple, if a deathclaw comes in your way or those friggin' Centurions in Hoover Dam you can prevent them to get close and do damage. Very nice. Brfritos 22:30, February 19, 2011 (UTC)

From some light testing, it seems that the 10% chance fork knockdown is per 'pellet'. When I use magnum or normal buckshot I get much more knockdowns than with slugs.--BSMaker 04:05, February 26, 2011 (UTC)

Looks like the damage of pellets affect the chances of knockdown. The chance of knocking down an enemy using 12 gauge been bags somehow lower than standard pellets or slugs. Still this perk is so overpowered when combining with Riot Shotgun you can solo Legendary Deathclaw or Legate Lanius (or BOTH if you are lucky)easily on Very Hard.

No, you don't need to be lucky, this perk IS hugelly overpowered! Using the Riot Shotgun and the simple 12 gauge rounds produce A LOT of knockdowns, so no need to make bean bags anymore; with a skill of 80 in guns (the perk requires 70) the Riot Shotgun is a fantastic weapon in close encounters, destroying everything in his way (hey, it's a shotgun, you don't need to aim, only fire!); with this perk I killed the Legate and he wasn't able to stand up again, the whole fight was with him knocked out. This perk and Light Touch pratically destroyed FNV for me: you don't need a high DT build anymore, it put energy weapons to shame and you don't need to spend points in melee either. Thank god that the good light armor is in Sierra Madre, so actually you have to do the opposite of what I said because of this. But is too overpowered. Brfritos 10:04, March 25, 2011 (UTC)
