Good for roleplay?[]

The perk itself is pretty useless, but I love that it actually makes sense - so you now are more aware when your actively trying to spy and sneak around. Unfortunately it has pretty much Zero practical use. Roflmaomgz 04:50, November 29, 2011 (UTC)

+4 to Energy Weapons, Lockpick, Explosives when crouching, that sounds slightly useful. --End Times 23:29, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

This perck have great Sinergy whit a loot other perks.

[notes addition] How to obtain alertness[]

Alertness can be obtained one of two ways:

  • Your perception oeverclocks being greater than 10 (temporary effects, traits, etc.), the most common way to overclock being an SPECIAL editor though.
  • Your perception is lower than (But not at) ten, and higher than or at 6, if you are having trouble finding ways to lower your perception, some ant nector or strong alcahol can lower perception, however such susbtances are addictive in new vegas.

- -

  • Practical use (strategy) : when your perception is maxed out, you will get a + by your SPECIAL, this means you have an added bonus, this can be useful to see where enemies are shooting you from, pick up movement easier, know when they're alerted before it appears in the top middle of your HUD (which is close proximities), and know where to aim when you're being shot at, however this use mostly just increases the range at which you see red blips while crouched and standing still, scouting out your enemies in VATS with long range weapons is always an alternative to this perk.
  • VATS has quite a long ange, and can be used to effectively scout an area in conjunction with this perk, given your SPECIAL is high enough for the unlisted ( + symbol by SPECIAL point) bonus.
  • Consuming food or smoking or less strong alcahol with increases PER + 1 also stack with this, but the range becomes so large that it nearly renders using perception alone pointless, and alertness is an way to get around this without becoming addicted or risk thereof.
