.45 auto vs. .45 Auto[]

Thoughts anyone? At first I believed it should be decapitalised but since then I have never seen it written this way, now I lean towards capitalisation. --User:Cartman!User talk:Cartman! 18:09, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Auto is not a proper noun. Trolly Polly Olly 18:11, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Except when it's in the context of the caliber. .45 Auto is its name in the C.I.P. (and actually the first letter of the acronym "ACP"), and therefore it's a proper noun altogether. Yuri(Leave a message!) 19:08, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Possible trivia info[]

.45 Auto is the designation given to the real world .45 ACP round in European countries, i was thinking about adding it to the article except that the admins are very picky about this kind of thing and would like some confirmation that it won't be deleted immediately if i add it to the article.--BattleBen 19:48, May 17, 2011 (UTC)

Hand Loader location?[]

Anyone know how to get the Hand Load for .45? I checked a bench with 100 repair & the perk and it wasn't listed.

Update: Reloaded an earlier save, used advlevel to level and get the hand loader perk again. Now .45 super is there. Bug?

I believe Hand Loader only add recipies that are in the game by the time you pick it to the crafting list. So picking the perk prior to installing Honest Hearts would not give you .45 super retroactively. This is the most likely senario, and it would mean people that had prepared saves for the coming DLCs and had picked Hand Loader would have been screwed. -- FieryWrath 18:01, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Nope, I picked Hand loader @ level 37.

The Hand Loader perk technically doesn't unlock the recipes, the recipes have a visibility requirement of the Hand Loader perk. The .45 recipes, however, have an additional requirement of finding I believe the Southern Tunnel map marker in Zion, so they won't appear until you find that map marker (Or whatever one if I'm wrong about it being the Southern Tunnel marker). Konork 20:07, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Alright, looking at the locations for Honest Hearts, it looks like the recipes are triggered by the Southern Passage (Not tunnel, which probably doesn't exist), which means like the weapons and ammo appearing at Mojave merchants, you have to beat Honest Hearts first. Konork 20:16, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

Knight Torres also sells them at the Hidden Valley Bunker. (98.165.106.116 05:08, May 19, 2011 (UTC))

Individual box models[]

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but last I knew, special ammo types didn't used to have their models for their boxes (ie .38 special, .44 special, hollow point and extra pressure etc..), but these appear to have them. Is this something new? If it is, I think it should be added to trivia. --Xarex 16:24, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

I think it should be known, because I didn't know that already.OmnipotentPotato 07:22, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

Hand-load a waste?[]

Anyone else thinking the super is a bit over-damaginging to your gun, 2.5 is a bit much for the damge boost and DT ignorance your getting, it's like the 45-70 SWC. - RASIC Talk Poll 17:27, May 19, 2011 (UTC)

Balance perspective wise, maybe. But the .45 Super isn't actually made for older weapons like the Colt 1911 (.45 Auto Pistol), there is a minor difference in the size of the case/bullet and inside is a much higher powder pressure which both will definitley shorten the life of the pistol. - IPodged 21:37, May 19, 2011 (UTC)
Meh, with Jury Rigging and a high repair skill for weapon repair kits (as is the case with my own character build), weapon durability becomes pretty much a non-issue anyway.--WouldYouKindly 04:28, May 21, 2011 (UTC)

And if you have Raul in your comapany the 2.5 is lowered by 0.7.--The BuNFi 01:04, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

That, or if you have Jury Rigging, you can repair .45 Auto pistols with any handguns and the SMG with some other cheaper things so it is still cheap to maintain, and the .45 Auto pistols only have 7 rounds in it so you want to make every shot count. Though I personally still think that it is an overkill to use it on the SMG. Flaktrooper, May 26, 2011.

I think it's specifically for Zion. In Zion you dont have THAT much ammo, as the ammo loot is limited and Joshua is even more limited. BUT you have that much repair capacity: Joshua. If nothing else you could harvest plants and make healing powder=>caps=>repair.

A subtle exploit that you dont notice is that you can buy, loot, steal all the normal .45 round in Zion, breaking them down, and remade it into +p or handloaded. Joshua sell enough powder to help that. Because if you use pure normal rounds, you aint got enough for the final quest.Laclongquan (talk) 06:59, March 3, 2013 (UTC)

HP ammo manufacturer seems incorrect.[]

The article says that .45 Hollow-Points are designed by the "Federal" Cartridge co. when the box model CLEARLY says "Sovereign" on the top. I'm just wondering why I'm the only one who raised their eyebrow to this.--O_O 19:15, October 23, 2011 (UTC)

If you look closely at the bottom, the print says "Manufactured by Federal Cartridge Co." --Kastera (talk) 01:54, October 24, 2011 (UTC)
