The Sugar Grove SigInt was a division of the United States Navy that worked in West Virginia.
Background[]
As a signals intelligence division, Sugar Grove was tasked with monitoring internal as well as incoming and outgoing signal traffic in the Appalachian area. These tasks included intercepting communications between miners regarding union participation or communist sympathizers.[1]
They also looked into money trails for Chinese connections as well as monitored the Free States.[2][3] All collected intelligence was documented and archived.[4]
