Standard paint, standard appearance, or default appearance is a paint scheme in Fallout 76, which indicates that the item in question has not been altered with a paint. Most crafted items, drops, and fixed spawns will come with a non-modified paint.
The only distinct difference is with power armor, as standard paint has all the necessary special effects associated with a given armor, to ensure the bonuses apply.
