Rita Thorpe was the wife of David Thorpe before the Great War.
Background[]
Rita and David lived together in Appalachia with their children. They hired a cook to work for them in the home, though David wanted Rita to fire her, because she ignored his distaste for pickles.[1] While on a trip to the Pleasant Valley Ski Resort, David became involved in an affair with Rosalynn Jeffries. He told her that he planned to "ditch" Rita, whom Rosalynn described as an "old hag." However, he wanted to keep their relationship a secret, as he had too much to lose in a divorce.[2] David also booked additional tickets to Washington, D.C. when he went on a trip to Pleasant Valley, in case Rita bothered to check on him.[1] After the bombs dropped, David lost contact with Rita and entered a full relationship with Rosalynn. However, the loss of his real family was a savage blow for Thorpe and it was only through Rosalynn's constant support that he managed to pull through.[3]
