Project Phoenix was a pre-War Grafton Steel Research and Development project at Grafton Steel Underground to create a civilian power armor able to withstand higher temperatures.[1]

Background[]

One of the three projects undertaken by Grafton Steel, the goal of Project Phoenix was to increase steel yield from the Grafton Steel plant.[2] In order to accomplish this, the company took inspiration from the Garrahan Mining Company's Excavator power armor. A suit of power armor was conceptualized, using the T-51b as a base, that would be able to be operated under intense heat conditions, which in turn would allow users to withstand greater temperatures and service active machinery.

By the time of the Great War, only the helmet had begun prototyping, with the rest of the armor never started. The helmet would remain in Grafton Steel Underground following the bombs falling, sealed in a magnetically locked room.[3]

Appearances[]

Project Phoenix is mentioned only in the Fallout 76 update Wastelanders.
