Project Adamantine was a pre-War Grafton Steel Research and Development project at Grafton Steel Underground to produce a new steel alloy for the United States Armed Forces.[1]
Background[]
One of the three projects undertaken by Grafton Steel, the goal of Project Adamantine was to create a form of "super steel", in order to comply with the federal grant's agreement of developing steel products specifically for the military sector.[2] Although concerns were made of the feasibility of the project, pointing out the various other metal alloys stronger than steel, the project was left in an uncertain state.
