Odysseus was a U.S. Army military working dog who was part of Captain Oliver Fields' squad which attempted to maintain order in Pittsburgh in the aftermath of the Great War.

Odysseus was part of a military canine team, along with Angel and Private Lucky, under an Army squad that included Captain Fields, Sergeant Thompson, and Sergeant Radcliff. They were in Pittsburgh at some point after the Great War, attempting to maintain order, though "shit hit the fan" when they attempted to rescue several civilians and Captain Fields took a bullet. Sergeant Thompson ordered Odysseus and Angel to protect Fields, though Angel lost a front leg in the ensuing fight.[1]

Odysseus, Captain Fields, Sergeant Thompson, Sergeant Radcliff, Private Lucky and Angel are all identified as members of The Old Guard. Their presence is a nod to the real-world 947th Military Police Detachment, part of the U.S. Army’s 4th Battalion, 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment, otherwise known as The Old Guard. This unit has the second largest Military Working Dog detachment in the continental United States and works closely with the U.S. Secret Service, identical to their role in Fallout 76.
