The Nuka-Cola Clear formula is a miscellaneous quest item in Fallout 3.
Background[]
The formula describes how to make Nuka-Cola Clear, a type of Nuka-Cola that was invented shortly before the Great War but never mass-produced. It was said to not have as much kick as Nuka-Cola, but made up for that with its clear appearance.[1]
Locations[]
The formula is located in the R&D section in the safe on the wall of the Nuka-Cola plant. R&D is research and development, and is located in the first area to the left, after entering the plant. The key for the safe can be obtained from Milo.
Notes[]
- Although it has the appearance of a holotape, it is actually a miscellaneous item. There is no transcript for the formula itself.
- After getting the formula, the Lone Wanderer can head to the Red Racer factory, northeast of the Nuka-Cola plant, where they will be met by Goalie Ledoux and the remaining members of his faction, Sudden-Death Overtime (the corpse of one of his teammates can be found elsewhere in the Nuka-Cola plant). He will offer 250 caps for the formula or 400 caps if a Speech check is passed. The Lone Wanderer may also choose to "face-off," resulting in the group turning hostile, allowing the Lone Wanderer to keep the formula for themselves.
- The player character can sell the formula to Ledoux and then kill him without Karma loss in order to take back the formula, which may lead to having two copies if the original was not actually in the Lone Wanderer's inventory.

Notes[]
Though it no longer serves any purpose, this item is still found in the game files as legacy content for Fallout: New Vegas.
Bugs[]
If one keeps the Nuka-Cola Clear formula in My Megaton house, it can be sold to Ledoux, but the player character retains the formula. After that, the formula can be duplicated by killing Ledoux and looting the formula from his body.[verified]
