Background[]

The recording date can be determined by the matrix numbers on the original record label. The disc was pressed by Columbia Records for their television broadcasting branch, CBS. The matrix number of the record is "XTV 134330".

Paperwork for Columbia Records held at the Library of Congress indicates the "XTV" matrix prefix stands for a " 12" mono LP master ", "XSV" is the equivalent for a stereo master.[1] However, the archive only shows documentation for XTV numbers from 11000-94000 sequentially spanning the years from 1949-1964; five digit XTV numbers as opposed to the CBS EZ Cue six digit XTV number.

The further date sequence for six digit XTV and XSV numbers can be derived from similar pressings with known dates made by Columbia Custom and Columbia Special Products for its own subsidiary labels and other third-party labels. Each 10,000 matrix increment roughly corresponds to a pressing year. The matrix number of the record, "XTV 134330", falls in the range of a pressing date of 1968.

Pressing Year Six Digit XTV Number Range Example
1967 XTV 120000 XTV 124727
1968 XTV 130000 XTV 134018
1969 XSV 140000 XSV 143702
