Grognak the Barbarian is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Grognak the Barbarian franchise.

Background[]

Grognak is a fictional character created by Hubris Comics. He is a barbarian warrior who travels through ancient lands, battling various fantastical monsters and villains, such as the evil sorceror Grelok. He is typically depicted wearing a simple green waistcloth with brown boots and gloves and wielding a mystical battle axe, though he occasionally uses a sword in his offhand.

Although he largely relies on brute strength in battle, he has consorted with mystical powers: in one adventure he was brought back from the dead,^[1] and in another he was possessed by a being known as Ragnarök, becoming the unstoppable Grog-Na-Rök.^[2]

In addition to his own series, he appeared regularly as a member of The Unstoppables, a superhero team made up of other Hubris Comics legends such as the Silver Shroud and Manta Man. Grognak appeared as a playable character in Don't Be Bored Games Company's Unstoppables ShiNdig. Grognak also appeared in a cartoon show (or possible commercial for the Holotape Game) Grognak & the Ruby Ruins.

An outfit in Fallout 76's Atomic Shop implies that at some point during the franchise, Grognak becomes king.

An advertisement on Pirate Radio in Fallout 76 advertises a Grognak themed 'Axe' (musical instrument).
