Galton's division was indirectly responsible for the Broken Mask Incident, as the operation to send the prototype synth into Diamond City was authorized by that division. The Director of the Institute at the time was greatly angered by Galton's failure and threatened to find exactly who in Galton's division caused the disaster, and have them punished accordingly.[1]
