A mantis ootheca is a container in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics[]
Mantis oothecae are egg masses made by giant mantises. While normally empty, they may contain mantis eggs.
Locations[]
- Two can be found in the Goodsprings schoolhouse.
- Five of them can be found in Vault 22's pest control and one in the food production.
Notes[]
- Shooting a mantis ootheca destroys it and results in several giant mantis nymphs spawning in its place. This will always result in the destruction of any items that may be inside. It can still be destroyed (and have the nymphs spawn) after it is emptied of eggs.
- If the player has the Meltdown perk, shooting at one with an energy weapon will result in a chain reaction of "meltdowns."
