Nuka-Cola truck is a special encounter in Fallout.
Overview[]
Here, you find a truck flipped over in the middle of the desert. It was likely used to transport Nuka-Cola bottles in its heyday, hence the large "Nuka Cola" logo. There is still one intact crate found beside the truck. The truck was possibly crashed by Lumpy, a ghoul who appears in Fallout 2 if you bring a Highwayman into Broken Hills.[1]

The crate can be searched for a predefined number of bottle caps, which is affected directly by the player's Luck.

Each amount of bottle caps is doubled if the player has taken the Fortune Finder perk.
Behind the scenes[]
- Like other random encounters in Fallout, it was designed by Jesse Heinig. Heinig initially wanted to add a special result of this encounter for low Luck characters, in which "when you searched the truck, "The overturned truck is full of bottles and... caps! Bottlecaps! Thousands of them! You're rich! You're... wait, they're Shafta cola, they're worthless."" However, this idea was not realized in the final version of the game.[2] "Shafta" was a reference to the real-world Shasta brand of soft drinks.[3]
