The Federal Fitness Registry was a government agency that existed before the Great War, officially dedicated to fostering proper fitness and health amongst the population of the United States of America.

Background[]

The agency ran the Federal Fitness Registry Compliance program, which was ostensibly a federal initiative to identify those who had contracted the New Plague.[1][2] However, their main goal was complete registration of the population's political and societal thoughts by way of medical emergency, fearmongering and promoting isolation.[3][4][5] They would promote sharing medical information, and medical samples, with their staff of "friendly federal professionals" to contribute to "valuable research programs," in return promising that the participants would be eligible for special prizes, such as fuel rations or vacations to exotic domestic locales.[6]

Producing The New Plague and YOU! pamphlets by at least 2059[7][8] and operating out of locations across the country its presence and effectiveness was mixed at best. One such example was its minimal presence in Point Lookout, which came and went before the arrival of the Collective Benevolence non-profit organization, which was authorized to use its leftover equipment from storage to continue the work without direct federal overview.[9][10][11][12]

Officially tasked with a variety of tasks related to the health and fitness of the American citizenry, one such effort was the "Sugar Management and Re-education Terminal," or "SMART." This pilot program, in cooperation with RobCo Industries, was directed at the very wealthy and well, if not overfed children at select schools across the country. Its reported goal was to reeducate them about their diets and exercising, to ensure a strong and reliable citizenry, able to adapt and thrive in these difficult times. This program was installed just prior to Halloween 2077 to collect data and further refinement.

In practice, this program was carried out by an automated terminal system which promoted turning in extra candy for prizes such as education supplies and surprise toys, the value of which was determined by a tiered list. It would effectively turn candy into gambling money. One such machine was installed at the Watoga High School. The effect of this program on the students would lead to hording, gambling, theft, violence, and corruption by both the students and some of the staff.

Appearances[]

The Federal Fitness Registry Compliance program is mentioned in the Fallout 3 add-on Point Lookout and Fallout 76.
