The two were married on December 18, 2055 and had a daughter named Judy. Emily filed for divorce, and a judge subsequently informed Sam's deputy chief of staff Curtis Cline the details of when it would be finalized.[2]
In response, Cline gave Sam a heads up so that it did not catch him off guard, suggesting he take the day off as he knew how much Emily still meant to the senator.[2] The divorce was granted by Judge Archibald Faulkland on October 15, 2077.[3]
