Cutting fluid is a junk item in Fallout 76.
Characteristics[]
A lubricant and coolant used in metalworking. It is an oil-based fluid that is contained in a small rust-coated steel oil can. Cutting fluid can be broken down into three vials of oil and a piece of steel.
It allows the player character a productive avenue for oil, a resource that is commonly used in weapon modifications.
Crafting[]
The cutting fluid can be broken down into its individual components for use in crafting:
Player characters can also craft cutting fluid at any chemistry station once they learned the appropriate recipe:
Locations[]
- One can be found inside Anette's Arrangements, west of the Whitespring Presidential Cottage and Museum, on a shelf to the left next to some flower pots.
- One can be found west of Bleeding Kate's Grindhouse, on a picnic table in the middle of the road near two mannequins.
- One can be found at the neighboring homesteads southeast of the NAR repair yard, on a stand next to a Damaged hazmat suit inside the small greenhouse.
- One can be found inside the Grafton Station, on a pushcart with a wooden box on it.
- One can be found inside the Arktos Pharma biome lab, on a shelf behind a security gate in the Animal Research section on the eastern side of the central hub.
- One can be found at Hunter's Ridge, on a metal shelf opposite a tool rack in the northern treehouse.
- Commonly found in toolboxes and other random containers.
- Can occasionally be bought from vendors.
Notes[]
The game script will scrap three existing units of cutting fluid in a player character's inventory to generate the required steel, leaving two less than what they began with. However, the extra oil is not used in the process.
