Cutting fluid is a junk item in Fallout 4.
Characteristics[]
A lubricant and coolant used in metalworking. It is an oil-based fluid that is contained in a small rust-coated steel oil can. Cutting fluid can be broken down into three vials of oil and a piece of steel.
It allows the player character a productive avenue for oil, a resource that is commonly used in defense and weapon modifications.
Crafting[]
Materials: | Requirements: | Produces: | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Acid (2) Bone (8) Purified water (2) Steel (3) | Cutting fluid (1) |
Assuming the player simply scraps the cutting fluid immediately, practically speaking that means the formula is this:
Materials: | Requirements: | Produces: | ||
---|---|---|---|---|
Acid (2) Bone (8) Purified water (2) Steel (2) | Oil (3) |
Locations[]
- Able to be crafted at chemistry stations.
- Commonly found as random loot in toolboxes or in the open world.
Notes[]
The game script will scrap three existing units of cutting fluid in a player character's inventory to generate the required steel, leaving two less than what they began with. However, the extra oil is not used in the process.
