Cross-platform play refers to the ability to play a game between platforms, whether to transfer progress or to face off against other players (eg. one plays on PC, the other on Xbox One).

Fallout 76[]

The only explicitly multiplayer game in the series, Fallout 76 at the present does not support cross-platform play.

Servers for each platform (Steam/PC, Xbox, PS4) are separate and it is not possible to transfer progress or play against players on different platforms. It's theoretically possible to play on PC against Xbox players by using Xbox Game Pass' cloud gaming feature, but this will only allow the player to play on Xbox servers against Xbox players, and is not true cross-platform play.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Cross-platform play was not a priority during development, although it was stated by Jeff Gardiner in 2018 that they'd look it as an option after launch. As of 2023, this feature has not materialized.
