William "Cool Papa" Jarvis performed the song "Yeah Yeah Baby" with the backing of Banjo Bill Reese and the Rhythm Rockers. It was featured in the Fallout TV series episode "The Radio". The song was recorded in 1958, but was never officially released until 2024.[1]

Career[]

Jarvis was a blues singer from Cleveland, Ohio active locally in the 1950s, but he remains relatively obscure.[2][3]

He was a member of a band called The Regals, formed in 1950 and consisting of Jerry "Rex" Middleton (falsetto and baritone), William Jarvis (tenor), Jerry Holeman (baritone/tenor), Aaron "Tex" Cornelius (baritone/tenor), and Albert "Diz" Russell (bass/baritone). Jarvis departed The Regals around mid-1952, and was replaced by soprano Willa Mae Parks, before the band released its first record in 1954.[4]

Around 1951 he was a member of The Orielteers, consisting also of Sam Griggs, Henry Lovett, and Lester Russaw.[5] He is known to have later performed at Cleveland's Paradise Auditorium in 1955.[6]

Only two of his songs were ever commercially released, over 50 years after recording. The first one is "Workin' Man", originally recorded together with "Yeah Yeah Baby" in 1958, also with Banjo Bill Reese and the Rhythm Rockers.[1] It was finally published as part of the New Breed Workin': Blues With A Rhythm compilation CD in 2016.[2] His second song to be published was "Yeah Yeah Baby" itself, released by FourDee Music Group on major music streaming platforms on June 5, 2024 following its use in the Fallout TV series.[7]
