A catfish is a mentioned-only creature.

Background[]

It was a species of pre-War fish that could be found in the United States.

Characteristics[]

The Sole Survivor can learn about catfish from the oceanological instructors at the Nahant Oceanological Society, who will mention that certain species of catfish possessed spines long enough to pierce the human heart or lungs.[1]

In Appalachia, Scout Leader Jaggy describes the area in Toxic Valley as previously home to bullhead catfish.[2] An order for three bullhead catfish-themed items can be found at Van Lowe Taxidermy.[3] When interviewed about food by Dassa Ben-Ami, Reverend Delbert Winters shared a story about his time in the army, convincing himself to eat foreign vegetables and fish by pretending it was catfish.[4]

Appearances[]

Catfish are mentioned in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76.
