The broken laser rifle is a special, unobtainable version of the laser rifle in Fallout: New Vegas.
Characteristics[]
At first glance, the broken laser rifle appears identical to a standard laser rifle, but for some unknown reason, the weapon is inoperable. While the extent of what is broken about the rifle is not clear, it is sufficient to render it worthless, having no cap value.
The weapon is also unable to be taken into the inventory. Should the Courier attempt to do so within the Hidden Valley bunker, a nearby scribe will comment, "Good luck killing something with that. Thing's busted."
Locations[]
The broken laser rifle is found on level two of the Brotherhood of Steel bunker in Hidden Valley, along with the similarly inoperable malfunctioning super sledge, jammed minigun, broken power armor, and broken power helmet. A second broken laser rifle can be found in the Stone Bones cave on the ground near the ammunition bench.

Despite being inoperable, the broken laser rifle is still considered a weapon item in the game files.
