Supervisor Bardwell was a research supervisor at the West Tek research center in Appalachia.

Background[]

Bardwell worked at a West Tek research center located near Huntersville, West Virginia supervising research staff. Around May 2077, he ordered biochemist Darren Spielman to create a decontamination arch that would neutralize the facility's Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV) as a fail-safe in case it ever escaped containment.[1]

On June 11, Bardwell, wearing a biohazard suit, came over to yell at Spielman again to encourage him to work faster. While doing this, Carl Wurth, a West Tek technician, snuck up behind Bardwell and dumped a canister of FEV on his head. For about a minute, Bardwell screamed, rolled around on the floor, believing he was going to die. Spielman then activated the decontamination arches and doused Bardwell in the neutralizing agent, saving his life and proving the chemical agent worked, though Bardwell would sentence Spielman to two weeks straight of bathroom duty in retaliation.[2]

On October 23, 2077, after the bombs fell, Bardwell begged Spielman and Wurth to stay at the FEV tanks while he tried to contact the "top brass" at West Tek, though was unable to since all lines of communication were down.[3] A day later, he left the research center to try to contact any members of the 12th Mountain Division still in Huntersville, telling the technicians to neutralize the FEV before they leave if he did not return. By October 30, since Bardwell had not been seen in six days, the technicians dumped the neutralizing agent in the FEV vats and left the facility.[4] Bardwell's fate after leaving the facility is unknown, and it is unclear if he made it to Huntersville.
