006DE1F3 006DE20C Yeah, for joining up with the Munis. I grew up in the Casino Quarter. Trying to pretend like this doesn't affect her as much as it actually does.
They were hoping I'd get in good with the Family. Maybe marry a nice mobster. Making a sarcastic joke. Obviously mobsters are not nice.
They were really disappointed to see I wanted to be an honest person. Being heavily sarcastic. Her parents were upset she did not want to continue tradition and join the Family. She chose to work for the government.
006DE1F4 006DE204 She keeps me sane. If it wasn't for her, I'd probably forget to eat. Genuinely grateful for Frieda. This is probably a true statement.
She's been sort of a replacement mom for me ever since my own ma disowned me. Remembering a painful memory.
006DE1F5 006DE20D He's the leader of Atlantic City. Not Quentino, not Charlotte. Tim. She has firm faith in Mayor Tim and looks down on Quentino and Charlotte for basically being criminals.
None of those frauds care about the actual people here. They care about their ego and making caps. That's it. Disgusted by the fact the Showmen and Family kill for money.
And he's not a politician, that's for sure. We don't sit around here passing around campaign buttons and kissing babies. She clearly doesn't think much of bureaucrats. She feels like she is doing important work.
Which, by the way, is gross. He took over after the last mayor had a breakdown and fled the city. She thinks the whole politician trope of kissing babies is gross. Objective retelling Tim's backstory.
He was just a farmer, really. A really pissed off farmer. She finds this funny.
No one else was willing to do it but him. The man doesn't have an ounce of anxiety in his body. Impressed by how Tim is never worried about anything, ever. Not even dire situations.
006DE1F6 006DE207 You're telling me. Maybe I'm just bitter because I tried asking him out. It didn't go well. Amused by the player noticing how odd Buttercup is. She's embarrassed at having been rejected.
Supposedly he used to be in a gang, if you can believe that. The rumor is that he got his name after he beat a man to death with a Giddyup Buttercup. Telling this story as if it's a ludicrous rumor. It's actually true. Buttercup beat a man to death with a toy horse.
Totally badass. She clearly has a crush on him.
006DE1F7 006DE209 Shame. I was liking the chitchat. A little disappointed. This was a nice break from her work.
006DE1F8 006DE205 Medical, fire, environmental emergencies...you name it. Listing things off absentmindedly.
If it's a problem, we need to take care of it. Blunt but to the point.
Recently, the Overgrown have become the source of most of our calls, and there's been a massive uptick in calls overall. Tired, explaining her recent predicament.
You can guess why I'm not exactly pleased about that. She's annoyed by the fact she's been working even more hours than usual due to the influx of Overgrown.
006DE1F9 006DE20E Ha! If they aren't the cause of them, sure. She finds this genuinely funny.
They're both supposed to enforce the peace in the city. Kind of like pre-war police. Explaining in a more serious tone what they actually should be doing.
They're only good at that when it's civvies having a drunken fight or some street thug trying his luck. Being very blunt.
Otherwise, it's two Showmen fighting over who's the best performer. Is amused recalling this.
Or two Wise Guys throwing hands after the decency of someone's ma came into question. She finds this particularly funny.
006DE1FA 006DE208 Sure, if you say so. Casual, friendly.
006DE1FB 006DE216 Ah, was it the eye twitching or the premature aging that gave it away? Sarcastic joke, but there's truth to it.
I'm on call practically 24/7 making sure no one in this city croaks. She's exhausted and can't keep up with this much longer.
That doesn't leave much time for, you know, living. Expressing her frustration at how she has no life and devotes all her time to her job.
No one else wants to do this, and I can't stop now. Trying to justify why she can't just quit.
006DE1FC 006DE20A I'm glued to the radio all day every day waiting for emergency calls to come in. Explaining her exhausting job to the player.
Could be someone's Uncle Bob havin' a heart attack, could be the Overgrown taking down another power line. Sarcastically making up examples as to the kinds of situations she has to handle.
Regardless, it's my job to take these calls and make sure the right personnel are sent out to resolve it. I'm just the middlewoman, really. Serious tone while explaining her responsibilities.
006DE1FD 006DE203 Go ahead. I've probably got another three seconds before I'm called again. Making a sarcastic joke about how she's constantly occupied by her job and has no free time.
006DE1FE 006DE20B Shoot. Friendly tone, open to conversation.
006DE1FF 006DE206 See ya around! Friendly.
006DE200 006DE210 Ohh...you weren't the last caller, were you? Listen, I didn't expect things to escalate so quickly- Anxious and afraid at first that a botched job came back to haunt her.
Wait, no, the voice doesn't match. Well, that was a botched first impression if I've ever seen one. Realizes she’s being paranoid and is embarrassed.
I'm Anna. I work dispatch for the Mayor's Office. Embarrassed, but introduces herself anyway.
006DE211 What can the Mayor's Office help you with today? Or maybe someone can help us for once. Making a sarcastic joke.
006DE212 What do you need? Available to help at all times.
006DE213 Oh, hi. Is it time for my five-minute break yet? Exhausted.
006DE214 I've got a few minutes until my next call. What's up? Hoping to stop and chat.
006DE215 What can I do for you, oh savior of Atlantic City? Teasing the player, but she does think favorably of them for all they have done.
006DE201 006DE223 Tim is always saying, "you should take a break Anna." Yeah, right. This city is already on fire as it is! Imitating Tim, thinks this suggestion is totally ridiculous given how poorly Atlantic City is doing.
006DE224 If it wasn't for the Overgrown, this job would probably be cushy. Bitter about how much extra work the Overgrown have created for her.
006DE225 I'd love to see one of the Showmen's spectacles, but I do worry about ending up with one less eye just sitting in the audience. Making a sarcastic joke about how dangerous the Showmen’s shows are.
006DE226 What day is it again? Actually, never mind. It doesn't matter. Confused due to sleep deprivation. Then realizes it doesn’t matter what day it is, because every day has the same problems.
006DE227 Sloane's been out for a while now. Starting to get a bit worried. Worrying to herself about Sloane being out on patrol for too long.
006DE228 We need two medics on the Boardwalk, a fireman dispatched to the Neapolitan...how many medics again? Trying to remember everything she has to do, but forgetting basic information due to how overwhelmed she is.
006DE229 A hundred and eight calls yesterday, ninety-six today...well, at least that's an improvement! Keeping track of how many emergency calls she gets and feeling a bit hopeful that there was less today than yesterday.
006DE22A This is Anna with the Mayor's Office, what's your emergency? Answering an emergency radio call.
006DE22B I'm sorry sir, can you repeat that? How many radrats are in your basement? Answering an emergency radio call.
006DE22C I understand, ma'am. We're sending over one of our engineers right away. Answering an emergency radio call.
006DE202 006DE218 Did you call me? No?! Who called me then? Paranoid and a bit delirious due to lack of sleep.
006DE219 Wha-?! Oh, sorry. Fell asleep at my desk again. Just woke herself up and is a bit startled.
006DE21A You and I are both muscle. The only bad guy I beat up is the coffee machine when it gets backed up. Making a joke to the player.
006DE21B Have you met Frieda? That woman's a saint. Well, an educated saint. Admires Frieda quite a bit.
006DE21C You look a bit worse for wear. But still leagues better than the rest of us. Backhanded compliment.
006DE21D I tried asking Buttercup out on a date. You know what he said? He's married to his job. I've never seen someone so passionate about tax collection. Embarrassed by Buttercup rejecting her in favor of his tax collection job.
006DE21E You been to the Casino Quarter yet? It's all glitz and glamour bought by blood money. She is originally from the Casino Quarter and does not look on it favorably.
006DE21F I wonder if the Family ever gets a day off. That could've been me, you know. Remarking on how she could have easily been a mafioso, but chose a responsible life instead. Thinking about time off wistfully.
006DE220 Tim mentioned everything you've done for the city. If his gratitude was a bit too dry, then take it from me: We owe you, big time. Genuinely grateful for the player’s help.
006DE221 Don't spend your caps at The Neapolitan. It's all a scam. Bitter about her past in the Casino Quarter. The Neapolitan is the main casino in the Casino Quarter.
