What If: The Fog of Mount Desert receded forever?
Premise: For years Mount Desert Island had been plagued by the Fog, a radioactive mist continuously growing and shrinking. With the arrival of the radiation-worshipping cult the Children of Atom it seemed that the Fog began to grow even more, until one day it stopped. Over the course of months the strange cloud receded until none on the Island could find it. Years later, it is now 2287, and the Fog is completely gone. How would the relations between the Island's factions be by the time of the Sole Survivor's arrival? Would dangers like the Trappers and the Island's near-unique mutants still be so prominent without the Fog feeding them? Are the Children of Atom even still present on Mount Desert now that the blessing from their god is missing?
Key Notes:
•You may discuss any event(s) that may've changed after the arrival of the CoA around the 2270s. For the purposes of this alternate timeline, that is also when the Fog also permanently receded.
•While Fallout 76 retconned the idea that the Island's unique mutants came from the Fog, the assumption here is that the Fog did contribute to the amount of danger they presented to the inhabitants.
