Today's Theory: Nick Valentine will forget the events of Fallout 4.
A rather somber theory that has popped up before is that the companion Nick Valentine will eventually forget about the Sole Survivor and even the War of the Commonwealth. This stems from the fact that the "2.5" synths like Nick and DiMA have memory issues. Alongside having a failsafe to make them forget certain details about the Institute, Nick acknowledges that his first memories are fuzzy. He has no recollection of his confrontation with DiMA upon escaping the Institute, only vaguely remembers the first human he met, and even that his pre-war implanted memories have begun to fade. In Far Harbor, DiMA explains that this is because they have limited data capacity. This means that, eventually, Nick could forget about everything that had happened during the time he knew the Sole Survivor.
Evidence For:
•It is a fact that as time goes on, Nick loses memories.
•Nick seems to forget people more than events. While he remembers events he has gone through, in his oldest memories he seems to have forgotten the people who were there either fully or partially.
Evidence Against:
•It is shown that important memories stay longer than others. The War of the Commonwealth, being a major event, could stick like other important memories did.
•Being reminded of events he has yet to fully forget is known to reinvigorate those memories. This is shown at the Nakano Residence where Nick recalls more about his history with Kenji as the conversation continues.
•As DiMA was able to overcome his own data capacity, Nick may be able to obtain the technology to do the same.
Do you believe that Nick will forget about the Sole Survivor and War of the Commonwealth, or will these memories somehow stick with him?
