Not the usual thing I do for the series, but I felt with more dates and things referenced it may be proper to establish a timeline of events in the MitMW universe so as to provide some clarification on certain things. I planned on releasing a new chapter yesterday, but some other stuff came up, so chapter 18 will be coming out tonight. In the meantime:
•November, 2076
-Carter Lakeman, a mercenary veteran of the Liberation of Anchorage and fresh from the campaign in Gobi, returns home to Chicago.
•August, 2077
-Feeling disillusioned with life back in the states, Carter applies for a spot in the Vault 0 backup security team. He is accepted.
-Carter attends a military parade showcasing ACME's line of robots meant to be Vault 0's main security force.
•September, 2077
-The auxiliary residents of Vault 0 proceed into cryogenic stasis. This is meant to only be a testrun over the course of a month.
•October, 2077
-The Great War begins, within two hours all nations in the world are silenced by nuclear fire. The Vault network closes to the surface. The Vault-Tec board of directors cuts the Calculator, Vault 0's cyborg Overseer, from the auxiliary sections.
•2154
-Doctor Thomas and his sister Donna are kidnapped from Vault 17 by the Master's Army and exposed to FEV, becoming super mutants. While Thomas retains his intelligence, Donna is turned into a lesser super mutant. Thomas takes inspiration from the story of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and changes his name to Hyde.
•2196
-A group of super mutants led by Gammorin and including Hyde and Donna flee eastward. A Brotherhood detachment is sent to eliminate them but ends up stranded in Illinois. The stranded Brothers and Sisters form the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel.
-The super mutants accidentally activate the Calculator, who turned against Vault 0's residents and released the ACME robots into the Wasteland to exterminate all life.
•January, 2197 - 2198
-The MWs discover the Calculator. After a series of battles a squad breaks into Vault 0 and eliminates the Calculator. The ACME robots are taken in for study.
•May, 2202
-The Calculator's forces are reactivated and put to work alongside Brotherhood forces. They excel in dealing with live threats and the MWs begin to rely on them to defend their borders.
•April, 2213
-Hyde is selected to join the MW council as an Elder in order to sate growing mutant resentment.
•July, 2246
-A group of survivors from the destruction of the Enclave's oil rig facility arrive at Savior Installation in Chicago. The group modifies the library AI, SILAS, to run the bunker's many systems. Henry Smith is elected as leader of the group, but one of his son's, James, soon replaces him.
•August, 2259
-The town of Burneth is destroyed by a hostile C-27, HR-M3W, stationed as a guard in the town. It massacres the residents, leaving only three soldiers and a child named Josephine Evitt alive.
-Scribes looking into the M3W Incident realize that the Calculator's pacification protocol, long thought erased from the ACME robots, was actually laying dormant. All ACME robots are immediately deactivated and sent to various facilities to be stripped of important parts.
•February, 2269
-Colonel Samantha Smith gives birth to a son. She and her husband James name him Conrad, after his uncle Hampshire Conrad Smith.
•December, 2270
-Reavers find a wounded woman named Iola surrounded by strange, destroyed robots and dead ghouls. She is taken in and healed, and she is convinced to join them for her expert knowledge on robotics.
•January, 2271
-Milana Khatri gives birth to a daughter, but dies in childbirth. Her husband, Sergeant Khrish Khatri names the baby Aisha.
•April, 2272
-Iola impresses the MW council by completely tearing apart and rebuilding an ACME C-27. She is allowed a temporary seat on the council, but pressure from Scribes to have their own leader on it rather than consultants convinces them to make Iola the first Head Scribe to sit on the council.
•July, 2276
-Samantha Smith is killed by looters while on patrol outside Savior Installation. General Smith orders the extermination of any outsider that wanders too close to the base.
•September, 2277
-The Enclave forces in the Capital Wasteland are broken by the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel. Though many escape, Elder Lyons orders the capture of acting President William Riley, who has fled to West Virginia.
•October, 2277
-EC forces discover the whereabouts of William Riley, who is killed in the ensuing battle. On his body is a map pointing towards an Enclave facility near the former city of Charleston.
•November, 2277
-Finding an Enclave presence in Appalachia, the EC soldiers investigatimg William Riley's map make a field decision to eliminate the "threat". The inhabitants of the region are caught in the crossfire and the local Brotherhood is unable to reason with their newly discovered relatives that the Enclave is harmless.
This turns into a long campaign of attrition.
•December, 2277
-Josephine Evitt quickly rises through the ranks of the Brotherhood Inquisitors. Though many rumors persist of possible "cruel and unusual" interrogation techniques on prisoners, she gains the respect of many within the field.
•March, 2279
-The ECs manage to destroy the Appalachian Enclave's base and it's members are scattered. The Enclave of Savior Installation close off all contact with the outside world.
•December, 2280
-Savior Installation is discovered by the MWs. In exchange for their technology, the Brotherhood offers to let the Enclave leave unharmed. General James Smith refuses, and Colonel Hampshire Smith kills him in order to negotiate a better deal of the Enclave's induction into the Brotherhood instead.
January, 2281
-The empty seat of General at the MW council is filled in by Hampshire Smith, who quickly proves himself both a man of the people and an able leader. With Smith's appointment to the position, Head Inquisitor Holmes resigns from his seat in disapproval. The council reluctantly appoints Josephine Evitt to fill the spot.
-A man named Praxus stumbles into Colorado Springs, bleeding and exhausted. He claims to have deserted Caesar's Legion and come to warn the town of an imminent attack. With his warning, the Brotherhood is able to repel the attack. After being nursed back to health, Praxus joins the Brotherhood, helping to fight the Legion.
•August, 2288
-Ex-Paladin Danse of the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel organizes a migration of 68 Gen 3 synths out of the Commonwealth. While the majority of the population is defenseless, several people make it their goal to protect them: Danse himself, fellow EC deserter Scribe Haylen, former Institute coursers Hemlock and Raven, former Neighborhood Watch member Daniels, and Railroad operatives Foster and Gregor.
-Foster and 2 synths are killed in Albany. Gregor decides to retire from the Railroad, and continues with Danse's party.
•September, 2288
-During a large sandstorm outside of Chicago, a member of Danse's party, Donald, goes missing. Though it takes him four days, Danse finds Donald stumbling through the wastes ranting and calling him a "shepherd". The more religious members of the group come to believe Danse is their savior, and begin to revere him.
-Danse's synths establish a small community in the outskirts of Chicago. They soon attract the attention of the MWs, and Danse, Haylen, and Gregor offer their services to the Brotherhood in exchange for aid defending the new town, "Simulacrum".
•May, 2292
-Praxus, for his bravery and knowledge on Legion tactics, is made an Elder and put on the council.
•January, 2293
-Danse leads the campaign to stop the spread of raiders coming south into Brotherhood territory. Head Paladin Edwards is killed, and the MW council elects Danse as the newest Head Paladin. Danse takes on the alias "Shepherd".
•January, 2295
-Elder Maxson of the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel meets with the MW council to negotiate their loss of political control over the region and persuade them to come back to California with him. The council refuses.
-A confrontation near Bunker Sigma with EC forces sparks a civil war between the two Brotherhoods.
•March, 2295
-While on a reconnaissance mission near Chicago, Sigma Squad is captured by EC forces. Several escape attempts are made by new recruit Knight Conrad Smith, all of which fail.
•April, 2295
-A combined force of Bunker Sigma and Bunker Alpha soldiers free Sigma Squad. Conrad is sent on temporary loan to Alpha Squad, where he meets Knight Victoria Guerrier and comes under the mentorship of Head Paladin Shepherd.
•March, 2296
-Elder Praxus of the MW council is presumed dead after a Legion raid on his war-camp. Brotherhood personnel are found burnt in piles, and so the body is never identified.
-Shepherd encounters a strange mutant. It is believed to be a random mutation, and left alone by Scribes.
•April, 2297
-Shepherd and soldiers at Alpha have confirmed reports of strange mutants. Elder Hyde begins researching them.
•June, 2297
-MW scribes at Bunker Sigma find mention of closed off sectors of Vault 0. Sigma and Epsilon Squads are sent to investigate.
-Head Knight Marcus is burned to death in combat by an EC soldier.
•July, 2297
-Sigma and Epsilon Squads breach Vault 0's auxiliary sections, the explosion triggers several smaller explosions in sector C, killing all but one member of the security team. The sole survivor, Carter Lakeman, escapes into the Wasteland after injuring a member of Sigma Squad. The other residents are taken to Bunker Sigma.
-Carter finds the remains of Colorado Springs and befriends the ghoul barkeep Staples. He takes up bounties on the local raider gangs and makes plans to travel to Florida, which is rumored to be a jungle void of the affects of the Great War.
•August, 2297
-Carter leaves Colorado Springs and starts on his journey to Florida. He is quickly found by Sigma Squad and arrested by Conrad, but EC scouts blow up the bus they are on and capture the survivors.
-Working together, Carter and Conrad escape the EC camp and reach the super mutant capital of Osceola. The two warn the town's governor, Elder Hyde, of an incoming attack and help defend the city. Hyde goes against MW protocol and reactivates two pacification bots to defeat the ECs. Carter is inducted into the Brotherhood as a Knight.
-Carter and Conrad deliver Paladin Rhys, leader of the attack on Osceola, to Bunker Alpha. They are met by Shepherd and Haylen, who reveal Rhys to be a former member of their squad.
-Carter and Conrad travel to Bunker Sigma to pick up the new recruits to Sigma Squad.
-While on a mission to aid Alpha Squad in capturing an EC outpost, Sigma Squad encounters the corpses of several strange mutants.
•Bunker Sigma is found and attacked by EC forces. Carter, Gregor, and Mendez, Alpha Squad's marksman camp in an abandoned super duper mart with a group of Knights while the remaining members of the squads evacuate the base from it's underground escape tunnel.
-While on patrol, Carter is caught by two ECs, Soph and Bryan, but the three are seen by a group of strange mutants. He brings them back to the super duper Mart and they all hunker down and await reinforcements. Outside, a mutant horde has chased the EC forces onto Bunker Sigma's roof.
-General Smith and Conrad arrive at Bunker Sigma. A shipment of newly reactivated ACME robots helps to take the base back. The MW council agrees to seeking peace with Maxson.
-Carter discovers that Vault-Tec board of directors closed the Calculator's access to the auxiliary section of Vault 0, and makes it his goal to find out why.
•September, 2297
-Shepherd travels to Fort Wayne to seek an audience with Elder Maxson. He reveals the mutant threat and Maxson agrees to meet with the MW council to discuss it.
-Maxson and several members of the MW council meet in Simulacrum. A ceasefire is negotiated and, in exchange for transitioning power to the public over the period of 50 years, the MWs and ECs decide to work together to combat the new menace.
