In F3 Marie Ashur has a seemingly unique resistance to radiation and the trog condition. Once Free Labor is completed and the player is given the booster shot based on her resistances, the resulting effect is a 10% permanent resistance to radiation. And that booster only coming from the developments made in the short time baby Marie has been around.
At the time, Marie’s special condition is made out to be a miracle for the Pitt. Yet, by the time of F4, the Children of Atom have a decent number of followers who have a similar innate resistance to radiation, with members going as far as to live in the inhospitable Glowing sea among other radiation hot spots. And the followers are spread all across not just the Commonwealth but as far north as Maine, and members range from random wasters to former Enclave.
Is it safe to assume that Marie’s condition was just the tip of the iceberg, with many other similar cases being discovered in F4? As far as I know the condition, known to the Church of Atom as Atom’s gift or blessing, is not documented in game by any other faction or given a name outside the Church.
And if Marie does share that innate immunity with others like Richter, would that mean any other “gifted” people would be able to help create a sort of booster to aid the general population in fighting off the dangers of radiation or, if Marie’s resistance to the trog is any indication, other diseases as well?
Note, I’m not suggesting Marie has any affiliation with the Church, just an otherwise unnamed condition shared with many of its members.
